Re: Running Rigging on Venture
I was just thinking about this, but when I got my boat and I refinished the tiller it had a few little holes in it and someone mentioned that it looked like it once had an auto tiller attached to it. Do you think the pad eye, rub rail, and the cam cleat arrangement on the port and starboard side of...

Re: Running Rigging on Venture
Could the extra blocks be to run the halyards to the cockpit? Some people swear by that setup, while others swear at it. Chip V. I'm not sure. It's possible. I notice the one cam cleat on the aft starboard side of the cabin must be for a halyard line, not sure what else would go there. A pic or two...

Running Rigging on Venture
Can someone help me with the running rigging layout on my Venture 2-24? I've set it up once with the jib and the main and would like to think I had it set up correctly. For the jib I just passed the sheets through the blocks on the front sides of the cabin, through the fairleads on the deck (below t...

Re: V22 pop top
I replied to your post in the repair thread, but I figured I'd just put it here too. A quick Google search for gas struts and sailboat pop top will yield lots of results and information. Here's a video I found of someone that installed some on a M26, but exact same principle would apply to any other...

Re: 26S Swing Keel Cable Break
I've heard of others doing a similar operation in order to get the boat back on the trailer after having the keel cable break. If you know anyone that scuba dives that would be a perfect task for them to just swim under and reattach a cable for you. Using the line to bring it back up into the boat ...

Re: Lifelines and shrouds (Covers)
When I sit at the helm, sure looks nice seeing 3 sets of white mast stays coming off each side Uppers, lowers, and mast raising system stays. G Definitely looks better than covering them with PVC pipe IMO. You remember how many feet you had to buy? I'm curious how much it would cost to cover everyt...

Re: Lifelines and shrouds (Covers)
You can see the new covers from this photo They are on lifelines and shrouds in mast down trailer config http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u119/beene_photos/20130802_163116_zps01a198a9.jpg G NIce, looks sharp. Thanks for posting that. So if you use them on shrouds you don't have to worry about the...

Re: Standing Rigging: to crimp or not to crimp
I don't know what's appropriate for that model boat, but major props for calling them by the right name - clips. :D 8) A crimped connection is neater than a bunch of clips, but if you use them correctly, and in the right number, they're just as strong. And remember - never saddle a dead horse. :win...

Re: 26S Swing Keel Cable Break
I scuba dive and I've though about that option. It sure would be a LOT less expensive... I will probably go that route if I can't find someone who will lift the boat and allow me to both fix the cable and paint the keel. Yes, I will definitely let you know the diameter of the new cable. Brad I'd do...

Re: Lifelines and shrouds (Covers)
Do you have a link to the cover material? I'm not finding it anywhere on their website. http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productId=11014&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&storeId=11151&storeNum=50045&subdeptNum=50088&classNum=50094 Thank you. I'm no...

Re: Garage height (height on trailer) needed for MacGregor 2
I have a Venture 2-24, which to my understanding is basically the same as the Mac 25 with some slight differences. If you have a 9' tall garage it should fit no problem. I'm 5'11 and when I stand next to my boat I'm about eye level with the bottom of the window so it's definitely less than 9', but n...

Re: Lifelines and shrouds (Covers)
Anyone else go to West Marine and get a bunch of white life line and shroud covers for their Mac? I just did, minor cost, $3 per 6' section, big improvement! They make the boat look a lot better Feel more substantial when you grab the lines Make all lines far more visible, which is a huge safety bo...
