Re: Thugs - bl@@dy thugs !

Thanks for all the kind replies. I like the idea of marking with "Selectamark" and registering the details with them. Like the price as well. The heavy duty cable that I had was simply cut through and then the outboard was removed including the outboard lock. Still not sure how. I am wary ...

Thugs - bl@@dy thugs !

Thought I'll share this with all of you here on the forum, it might be of particular interest for the UK and other European members who might be offered a bargain outboard. Last Friday I was checking I famous auction site for bargain boat bits in preparation for the new sailing season. Saw (what is ...

Yes, it really does help to know where you see the water and when it occurs.

Re: Mac 26S Rudder Modification

Mastreb, it takes much less space on the pontoon with the rudder down in the water. Less chance for somebody to hit into it.

Re: Need Mast for my 26C

If it is a clear break then I wonder if the mast could be fixed by putting a "sleeve" inside. If you do need a new mast, I've read that you could also look for used catamaran masts, like the Hobie 18 or the Nacra 5.2 . Their profile seems to be very similar as is the length. BTW, Lisa was ...

Re: Need Mast for my 26C

Hello HappyDay and welcome to the forum. How did you break your mast ? There might be perhaps a possibility to fix it. Do you have any pictures ?

Best wishes from England's East Coast to the Maritimes. My wife grew up in NB !

Thanks again for all the replies, as always this site has been a major source of help and inspiration. Here is the "new" rudder antifouled and ready to go onto our boat:

Re: M26S Motor suggestions

Hi, I have a Tohatsu 6HP saildrive on "Rockhopper". Powerful enough and the size just about is ok for the motor well. It also charges my battery. Ok, it still hits the sides but definitely better than then old clunky 8HP 2 smoke Mercury that I had before. I actually bought the ultra longsh...

Thanks Ray, for sharing this great article. Saved a copy of it and also put a printout it in my boat maintenance folder. The halyard wrap picture does look sadly familiar to me  :

Re: Best!! thing to cut fiberglass

Fien has been making plaster cast saws since 1945. http://www.woodworkersjournal.com/Ezine/Articles/Fein_Wrote_the_Book_on_Multitools_9070.aspx Thanks for pointing that out. In history of medicine, the invention of the still nowadays in use oscillating plaster cast saw is attributed to an American ...

Re: Best!! thing to cut fiberglass

Yup, and the Fein Multi-tool is still king of the hill in spite of all the knock-offs, and the high price, according to any review I've seen. Some of the knock-off tools (universal profiles) fit the Fein as well, so those are more economical to use in it. Have not seen a Fein on sale, but have been...
