Re: Previous Reversing accident ... Check your bolts sailor!
Yukon Bob Thanks for the reply RE: chain, I will stay with that. I have never used bottom paint cause I'm in fresh water. I did have a problem with zebra muscles last year in Lake Michigan and they were very hard to remove. Would bottom paint prevent that?

Re: Previous Reversing accident ... Check your bolts sailor!
Just wondering should I use galvanized chain for the anchor? I currently use about 10 feet of it with 200 feet of rode, should I use more chain? I mostly sail on lakes and rivers but intend to do sailing in salt water in the next few years. I do not have anti fouling any recommendations on what to a...

Re: Dodger/gas tanks
Jimmy that cover you made is really nice did you fabricate it yourself? The width seems much more appropriate for the job of keeping spray out of the boat than the BWY dodger.

Re: Dodger/gas tanks
Thanks Highlander for the dodger info I like the way the Dowsar dodger looks and wondered if I would need to have them install it or if I could have it delivered and install it myself? Delivery would be much less expensive than driving to their store I live in Wisconsin and I think they are about 50...

Re: Dodger/gas tanks
Tanks look great what was your reason for buying them? Were they hard to install?

Re: Dodger/gas tanks
So Baha you’re saying the dodger is strong enough to hold you up? Do you know who made it? Is it easy to take off? Would you consider getting any add ones like screens or zip up door?

Re: Dodger/gas tanks
Thanks for the reply , I have replaced my tanks twice and both times they leaked. The BWY gas tanks are made for the M but cost around $400 each and must be connected to the gas battery to ground them. They hold 17 gallons each and I thought two would balance the boat better. If the BWY dodgers can ...

Dodger/gas tanks
I’ve been considering getting a dodger for my M. I’ve looked at the BWY model and it doesn’t look wide enough to reduce spray that I get from motoring over 10mph or heading into the wind. I also looked at Dowsar Marine website I liked the wider stance of their dodger but wasn’t sure of price for dod...

Re: Buoyancy calculation?
My S was pulled off the mooring during a storm with 70 mph winds and wound up on the rocks with huge holes big enough for a small child to crawl through and never sank. In fact it stayed high enough in the water to protect the motor and anything stored above the seats on the inside. The storm was hu...

Thanks Sailboatmike for the recommendation on using the CB I will definitely lower it in windy conditions.

Re: Bow Trolling Motor or Twin Screws on the Rudders...
Now that you ask I have to say I don’t put the CB down cause I usually pull it up coming into port. The reverse steering I have used before and found it works quite well to manuever tight spots but mostly I am docking bow first. What will the CB do to reduce wind effect when motoring at very slow sp...

Re: Bow Trolling Motor or Twin Screws on the Rudders...
I have wondered about using a long shaft salt water for my M as a bow thruster to maneuver harbors not as primary but secondary for steering control. The M has such high free board I have almost been blown into other boats and it is hard to control just with OBM. Not sure how it would mount or if it...

Re: 12 volt cooler or refrigerator
Ive thought of getting one some posts here (I think) have stated that they are worthwhile. I use a Yeti cooler just for ice for drinks and am debating about a second Yeti for food and drink to replace regular cooler I now use vs getting one of these electric boxes. Ive heard that once they cooled Th...

Re: Companionway steps mods?
Are the steps part of the support for the cockpit entryway? If you just put the steps on a hinge without the tubular re-enforcement would that work? I would like to create steps that would just flip up but I'm afraid it might weaken the floor of the cockpit. Thanks for your reply.

Re: Venture 22 sails again
Absolutely beautiful! How long did it take to finish this? Can you post more pictures? How about more interior shots? What was the hardest part of recovering a boat like this? Would you do it again? I very impressed because for my skill level doesn't even come close to this you have done a great job...
