Re: Best. Boat Name. Ever.

I am self employed and run a small company so we named our boat "Business". That way when I take a bit of time away from work I just tell people that "I'm away on business"! Most of my clients are understanding. :)

Re: What type of heat?

I have a propex heater. It is mounted above the rear berth and vents the exhaust outside. Thermostat with a auto start, so you set it and forget about it. The blower helps keep the moisture down in the cabin. I have spent a few nights on the boat in the winter when the temp has been around freezing ...

Re: Stiff steering

Thank you for all your input. The rudders were fully down and cleated off, I have had them come up before. We were sailing with both the genoa partially furled but found it was hard to control and one more thing to worry about. The main was reefed. The wind was dead behind us. I did drop the motor t...

Stiff steering

We had an amazing time sailing this weekend, in the Gulf Islands on a very windy weekend. Well sailing downwind we averaged 10knts hitting a top speed of 11.8knts for over a half hour. At these speeds the steering was very stiff and the boat was difficult to control. The seas were about 4 to 6 ft.; ...

Re: Changing a Transom (Ballest Vent) Valve from ‏ 1.5" to a 3"

I have never timed how long it takes to drain the ballast well under way, but it must be less then ten minutes. I bought a gate valve from Canadian tire for less than $20.00 and after taking the old small valve off I took a can that was the same size in diameter as the new gate valve. I traced a cir...

Re: Bad Mouthing the MacGregor

I just returned from a couple of days sailing with a friend on a "real boat". A very beautiful 37 foot "Herreshoff design" wood boat. He has been bugging me to go with him ever since I bought my Mac. The "plastic tub" he calls it. His boat my win some beauty contests, b...

Re: Changing a Transom (Ballest Vent) Valve from ‏ 1.5" to a 3"

I have a 96x and one of the first things I did was put a larger 3" transom valve on my boat. I was tired of holding up other boaters at the launch ramp well the ballast tank drained.

Re: Does anyone use a direct vent propane cabin heaters

Thank you, I did look at these threads but they did not contain much information on the Sig marine or Dickinson heaters. I am hoping that someone out there used these heaters and can tell me how well they work and how they were installed. I have a line on a used Dickinson heater in almost new condit...

Does anyone use a direct vent propane cabin heaters

I am planning on adding a propane heater to my boat this fall so I can be nice and cozy during my winter sailing trips. Has any one installed one of these heaters, A Sig Marine force 10, Dickinson Marine Newport fireplace, or a Propex 1600 blown air heater :?: Were did you put it :?: How do you like...

review of 70 on Mac x

I just returned from a 3 day trip with my (new to me) 2004 Suzuki 70. What a difference those 20 extra ponies make. I had a 96 Honda 50 that came with the boat when I bought it last year. The old motor always made me a bit nervous when I pushed to boat at speeds over 7 mph. The first thing I noticed...

Re: 90 Hp

Thank you for your input. I have a tandem axle trailer with bunks that go to the stern, it is older but should have no problem with the extra weight. I was more concerned with damaging the hull.

90 Hp

My 15 year old Honda 50 is getting tired so I have been looking around for a motor to replace it with. I wanted a move up to 70hp motor ( The 50 seems a little under powered) and I would like to pull the kids on a water toy some times. I found a 2003 Honda 90 for less than half the price of a new 70...

Berth cushions

My V-berth and rear berth cushions were damaged in a basement flood and have been thrown away. Can anyone tell me what the dimensions of the cushions are so I can have some replacements cut. Also any suggestions on the best replacement foam? I have a 96 mac 26x. Thank's
