Do they have a drone that can crash in saltwater and not be ruined?

Re: MacGregor Sailing Accident - Safety Reminder
Boat on the same point of sail: no way they are getting her to tack in those conditions. Best you’ll do is a controlled gybe or run the engine. Yes that’s the one. The opening ports for the back bunk area. Maybe the person who was below was looking for the source of the water. It would be informativ...

Re: Gel coat again…
A bunch of people just advised me to have it painted with awlgrip, but that’s expensive to hire a professional. TBH
The boats kind of a good level of scruffy for cruising the keys and Bahamas. Every once in a while I miss the shiny, though.

Re: Relocate head compartment
lol I did want an X because I loved the layout, but the general opinion was that the M was a better boat for sailing and since I wanted to maximize sailing that was a consideration. I also liked the look of the boat from the outside after having many traditionally styled boats including my gorgeous ...

Re: MacGregor Sailing Accident - Safety Reminder
Very sad news. I though I’d seen the boat name on this forum at some point. The X and M are really two very different boats. The M seems to have higher sides and cabin and less initial stability. But I’ve had mine in some really windy conditions fully ballasted, and she just lays over. I did add 350...

Gel coat again…
Has anyone re-gelcoated the outside cabin sides and hull of their boat? If so how did it come out? Was it worth it?

Re: Relocate head compartment
Thanks for the compliments everyone. And thank you for all the input and opinions. I used it again last night now that everything is finished. It’s more comfortable than at home. Two and a half gallons of water provides a nice amount of shower. I guess I’ll have to get that water maker going soon. Ix

Re: Relocate head compartment
So this project is usable. The door took a lot of thought and now it opens to the back, so it can be left partway open to give a bit more space to undress. I am not proud of the carpentry work, it’s impossible to do decent quality with no shop. But it works. I did a fair imitation of a salty seal se...

Re: Swapped my 50HP 2-srtoke for a 30HP 4-stroke
Some of my most memorable days were places like this: https://i.postimg.cc/s1rmcZj4/IMG-0064.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/JG7qwVBy/IMG-2497.png https://i.postimg.cc/LnyV2Czx/IMG-2500.jpg And there’s no “fast boat” that’s getting me there except maybe a hobi cat. And that doesn’t have a cabin.

Gelcoat match.
FYI The fasco resin pigment white, beige and a little yellow can come very very close to matching the inside Gelcoat. This can be used with clear epoxy resin or polyester resin to make your own Gelcoat. I could get it to within the range of faded or new gelcoat color. Some parts of my boat have fade...

Re: 12 volt electric heat
This is why I love this forum. There are some really smart people flogging about in these little boats. I have not braved the lithium train yet on my boat. I’m currently experimenting with a simple system powering this little EV cart https://i.postimg.cc/NycmHfkp/camphoto-126398554.jpg If it doesn’t...

Re: Comfort onboard
The macgregor boats, and all small sailboats I’ve seen are not lounging friendly to aging human beings. I removed the oem helm seat and made it flat. Now I can lie across the width of the cockpit back there under the awning. I prop up my back with a sail bag with the number three jib in it, so I can...
