Motor Cowling

Curious as to how you guys fix, polish or whatever to get out scuffs and scratches out of your outboard cowlings.

Thanks,

Favorite Apps

I've been using a Blackberry for the last 7 years and will be getting my own iphone soon. I've never used the BBY with apps so I'm excited about utilizing the many apps out there. What are some of your favorite apps...sailing or otherwise?

Re: I sold my 26M... :( small cockpit didn't workout for me.

I had an :macx: and wasn't happy with the cockpit space as well. Loved the boat as it did everything I needed other than the space issue. Someone showed me a Hunter 260 and I immediately made the switch. Ideally I would have a 34' boat but cost and lake access are prohibitive for me. I need the trai...

Re: peak sail

I have had a poor experience with them as did a sailing buddy. Another actually received his head sail (many months late) and in two months of use it faded quite badly and looks horrible to this day.

Lots of stuff in the achieves, buyer beware!

Hope you feel better Sum. Enjoy the trip, I look forward to your reports.

I must say, a couple of those pictures of the cockpit with all those solar panels reminds me of a satellite :)

Re: value of "tilting" solar pannels

I believe there is significant value in having some sort of adjustment on your solar panel. Just from readings on my multi meter, I found that it would be worth the while to come up with something. I'm not an electrical guy but my research and testing told me to pursue something. My Hunter has a spo...

I'm looking for a Pedestal Guard. I ideally straight but I could manage with an angled one. Anyone have or seen a used one for sale?

Thanks,

Re: Auto Pilot

Hey Spector. I agree, hopefully he nails it. I'm at Gull Lake. I had a Mac 26X for a while and discovered this awesome webpage. I still regularly visit here as there are great people and lots to learn. I sold my 26X and moved into a Hunter 260. Couldn't pass up an offer on my X so I sold it. I like ...

Auto Pilot

A year ago or so someone on this site was attempting to build an affordable auto pilot. I was hoping that he would be posting some info on his test as last I remember he was about to start his testing phase. Have I missed any updates? I can't find the original thread. I'm really hoping he was on to ...

Re: I'm having Choke Throttle issues

Check the screw on your choke lever (the one closest to the throtle handle). It looks like it is rubbing/catching on the throtle lever.

Re: Splicing solar panels together.

Thanks Sumner. Up to 2am last night and it's becomming clearer. Maine Sail has some incredible posts out there. He seems to be the Michael Jordan of sailing :) Once again your posts have explained with wonderful clarity and resources for more research. My wife says I research too much but with saili...

Re: Splicing solar panels together.

Thanks Sumner. I don't know what a shunting controller is. Nowhere in the instructions do I see a reference of 'Shunting'. I will do some research on that term. There is no model number on this unit in the instrctions. The instructions state: "The charging Controller indication green light will...

Re: Splicing solar panels together.

Hey Sumner, Thanks for your help. I googled this solar charge controller and it seems as though it can handle up to a 105 watt panel. The PO must have installed it with this 5 watt panel he had. The instructions show that it doesn't come with this panel. They sell for $29.99. So I should be good wit...

Re: Splicing solar panels together.

Hey Sumner, I love that deal for the 40 watt panel. Is that the same style that you used? I am going to mount off the stern similar but different from your install. Is that panel pretty sturdy/durable. It sure sound like a heck of a deal. I currently have a 5watt Brundson panel and it came with a ch...
