Y'all might like this - shows the vague steering, and how wet I got. Seems my bimini is good for the sun but doesn't do much to keep the rain off the captain!

Re: So I just bought a Mac X....
Well thank you all very much for the encouragement and praise 8) Regarding the centerboard and rudders, nope, didn't have them down at all, at any point, including attempting to intercept the trailer. In fact the rudders were still bolted in place, to ensure they didn't fall down while towing :D OK,...

Re: So I just bought a Mac X....
I recently replaced the trim tab, as it's a zinc anode and the original looked a bit eaten. It's not pulling to any side in particular, just sort of lurches off on a tangent, then a lot of steering wheel movement to get it to stop going that way... at which point it will think about it a bit and the...

8) Flattery will get y'all everywhere... or some pizza anyway So, 1st trip... Weather was terrible and everything was last-minute so the boat jammed with disorganized mess, so not the best of starts but good to get her wet. Problems or issues noticed: :!: The previous owner said he fitted a 4 blade ...

Re: So I just bought a Mac X....
Yes, I've already put bolts through those holes, though with just a wingnut on a long thread. The trailer journey is only about 10 miles, so I'm confident they won't come undone, plus the ropes are still there. I will try and lock or stiffen the steering. *thumbs up Regarding the dock lines, none of...

Re: So I just bought a Mac X....
Thanks for all the speedy replies! So raise the engine up as high as it will go, flip the little silver thing around, that should lock it but don't lower the full weight on it? OK. And the mast will probably survive this first trip, but best craft some kind of support before the next trip. Preferabl...

Re: So I just bought a Mac X....
So I'm hoping to launch tomorrow morning... 2 questions: :?: On my previous engines there has been some method of locking the engine in the tilted-up position, to avoid the engine bouncing on the hydraulic ram during towing. I'm not sure how to do that on the BF50, and the manual isn't really helpin...

Re: Weird Pole on my Boom?
From Wiki: A boom vang (US) or kicking strap (UK) is a line or piston system on a sailboat used to exert downward force on the boom and thus control the shape of the sail. Piston system? Well that would explain the telescopic nature I guess. OK thanks, seem the mystery is solved! I'll leave it off a...

Re: Weird Pole on my Boom?
Great questions! I took it off and stuffed it in the shed but I'll go looky... OK it's about 38 inches long, excluding the bracket, and extends almost twice its length to 65 inches. It's a single cable; this is what came off with it: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6ute1vzmky1g017/20210203_174459.jpg?dl=0...

Re: 26X transom floor core repairs
drilled out bigger resealed & filled with epoxy & then redrilled the right size so as the hole is epoxied on all sides Such an elegant solution! I just drilled some holes in my dinghy transom to fit some wheels and didn't do anything so fancy - just used the smallest drill possible and silicone-sea...

Weird Pole on my Boom?
Hi again! Tis me, the noob from Borneo, with a rather obscure and early 26X. Been busy with work lately but my boat - now named the Big Mac (bite me) is pretty much ready for testing as a motor boat. Just waiting for better weather and for me to get around to fixing some lights on the trailer. 8) :?...

Re: Anchor locker too small, so...?
There's storage room under the seats? In my X there's a 55 liter stainless steel fuel tank (thanks PO!) in the port locker. The starboard is empty. If I ever manage to fix a dinghy/spare outboard engine then the fuel tank will go in there. I already checked, it fits nicely with plenty of room for a ...
