Also "Summer Rental" with John Candy and Richard Crenna.

Real funny stuff.

Can't forget about "Wind" either. Matthew Modine and Jennifer Grey.

Re: check this!

Gorgeous boat and design. Whoever rigged the boat for the photos should be shot. Why on earth would anyone take promo pics with a headsail that hasn't been raised completely. Even worse, why would they use them on their website. The other thing I question is why they chose that particular location. ...

Re: Buying a new main sail ? Muslehead ?

Hi John. Do you have a spinnaker halyard with your current rig? Any reason why you chose to move away from the CDI line of furlers? Might be able to work out a deal with you on a M-Head. Perhaps swap one out for a complete, ready to install sprit? Then we will meet somewhere and have MacCutter races...

Re: Your 26M as a business (deductable?)

Ha! There is a big difference between a poor business person and someone looking for a tax shelter. The poor business person will eventually close the doors. The person looking for a tax shelter will eventually get nailed in the U.S.. Doesn't make any difference if it is raising livestock, charterin...

Re: Your 26M as a business (deductable?)

What sounds too good to be true, probably isn't. In this particular case, it definitely isn't. There is no way of deducting your boating expenses based on what Mike has proposed. The IRS will allow any new business to show an operating loss for a reasonable period of time before it must show a profi...

Re: To Batten or Not

Sailing without battens will do two things:

1. Ruin the sail as it will accelerate stretching.

2. Decrease performance dramatically.

If you are sailing without them now and do not notice an appreciable difference, the sail is probably shot.

Re: Name Competition

Here's a bit of trivia.

In the past, it was considered bad luck to re-name your boat without going through a very specific ceremony or ritual.

Any guesses?

Re: Name Competition

Have three boats right now....

O'Day 37 Center Cockpit: "Freedom" - Pretty much self explanatory

Westerly Crrus: "Christian" - My daughter's name

Beneteau First 235: "5280" - Anyone who knows Denver, CO should figure it out. :D

Re: KH-Sails

Hi Bob, Evaluating sail shape from a photograph can be deceiving at times. I have been had several photos sent of the sail sent to me over the past year. Some have looked fantastic and others have not. There are three primary things that will affect the shape of this sail: 1. MacGregor Rig: I have m...

Hi Dennis,

Check out Sailrite.

You can order their materials package right online.

Beware. You can purchase a new sail already made for the same price or less.

Re: Someone not pricing the market

Hi Stephen. Would be a fun project boat. Lots of time and money would have to be invested. I guaranty she will need new sails (this one had 3). She will need a new bottom job and Awlgrip on the topsides and deck. Interior looks like a start from scratch. You don't see many of these around anymore. I...

Re: Don't you just wish.....

I wouldn't touch the 65 in Florida without a hands on inspection. She needs to be pulled out of the water and have a complete survey done. Bring that boat back to Bristol is going to take ALOT of boat bucks. New mast, sails, running and standing rigging would make you nauseous. I would really want t...

Re: Roller Reefing Main for the 26M

I would take a look at two other products that are available prior to making a decision. I have a 38' heavy displacement cruiser and just replaced mine with a new Harken system. It is built like a brick s---t house and has handled every weather condition thrown at it so far. The cost to purchase and...

Re: Anyone been to Navajo Reservoir?

Navajo is absolutely gorgeous. I have sailed it once and it happened to be on a Mac. We started on the Colorado end and the wind direction that day required tacking the entire length. As it narrow, that means beating for miles...not something you want to do in a Mac. We just turned on the engine and...

Re: An Interesting New Bow Thruster

Duanne,

I have seen this product. Actually, if you search you tube there are a few videos there.

They claim you lose a half knot of boat speed when traveling 7.

Pretty pricey. I think they start at $6 or $7,000.00.

Looks like a nice piece of gear though.
