Keeping Saltwater Ballast in tank for 6 months
Have a 26D and want to keep it in a slip in Ft Pierce, Fl for 6 months. Concerned that sea critters (barnacles, etc) will find the ballast tank a wonderful place to live and grow. Any experience and recommendations about how to handle this? Also, what about possible internal fiberglass blistering pr...

Re: JackLines Again....
This is a long post and covers jack lines, tether/harness, and PFDs but we lived aboard our 38' sailboat and sailed from Maine to Trinidad over 7 years so have had some experiences with all three. Now we have our small (to us) 26D. (but - 120 miles in 2 hours vs 24hours is good!) We're talking about...

Re: MAC26S Anchor Roller Installation
I just installed a long bow roller for a 22# delta on my 26D. It's about 2' long with 2 rollers and a U at end. Three large bolts to mount. Looked at what you're thinking of but opted for easier and better solution for this anchor. I mounted it on one side of the head stay head. It butts to the head...

Re: My new Aluminum Trailer for 26D
Trailer is rated at 4400 lb net and weight is shown as 750 lb on the sticker. Frame is 5.5" I beam AL. They also moved the center of the axles about 12" further back to add some weight to the tongue. This addresses a problem with Mac stock trailers. Price before tax here in FL was about $4...

Re: Can I use slugs instead of bolt rope?
I'm changing from bolt rope to slugs on our new to us 26D. Have used them on bigger boats for years. Only way to go! Simple way to stop slugs from falling out is to drill and tap a 1/4-20 hole in the side of the slug track and install a wingnut/bolt into the hole. Tighten after installing sail and l...

My new Aluminum Trailer for 26D
After considering cleaning up the 20 year old original rusty Mac steel trailer, adding axles, springs, brakes, and more, I finally decided that safest and most cost effective way to tow my 1990 26S from FL to Canada and back was to talk to experts. Using this forum and contacting builders I settled ...
