whisker pole

For those of you who use a whisker pole for the 150 genoa on 26X. What size pole do you use? I'm going by West Marine today and most likely one of these is on my list. I'm thinking a 6' to 12' extension… Also do you recommend the clip at both ends or the ones with a point to stab the clew with? Than...

Re: Clean drawing of a 26X

I started working on a sketchup model of an X in order to turn it into a paper model to add to my website. A 26M model wouldn't be to hard to adapt from that. If I can catch some inspiration maybe I can finish it! :-)

Re: Custom rudders?

Yeah I had the vang as tight as I could get it. A great day of sailing!
So when I get my genoa fixed and put the roller furler back on I'm going to need to adjust it to fit with the newly adjusted stays. That should be interesting. :-)

Re: Custom rudders?

No traveler on the x :-( I'm out right now in 12-15 mph erratic winds. I loosened the stays one notch and was able to tighten the forestay quite a bit more. It seems to have helped a lot! Also when going to wind if I have the jib sheeted in nice and neat and the main sail out just before the point o...

Re: Custom rudders?

Hmm, we'll we were heeled over pretty good. This last time I had the storm jib up and the main reefed in about 10-20mph winds. The main is pretty baggy and could use a tune up and i will probably add a second reef. The forestay is pretty darn tight, I suppose I could try to loosen the stays one notc...

Custom rudders?

I seem to notice a tendency for the boat to round up into irons while sailing to wind even when I am hard over fighting against it. I have experienced this with a wide variety of sail balance, it seems the rudders just loose effect while heeled over. I'm thinking of making some rudders that are a bi...

Re: No longer a "soon to be" Capt

Welcome to the madness!
I get funny looks all the time pulling with my wrangler. The boat pulls very well though!

I have had mine for a few months and had it out sailing a lot, but still haven't slept on it.

Your mods will get less stressful after you cut your first hole in the boat. :-)

X vs M Genoa

Got some tears in the genoa yesterday in high winds, will have to see if the sail loft can fix it. AS i was looking through my assortment of extras from the PO I saw the sail bag for the genoa as being for an M. It got me to thinking, are they the same size? I sure have issue sometimes getting it to...

Re: Where to get custom graphic and boat name

Namaste is a good name! I think it's a pretty common word these days. I use adobe illustrator to make the designs and take it to Fast Signs to print out. That keeps the cost down to printing only with no design costs. Illustrator is the format that they use so I can just give them a file. Here is my...

Re: Color of Boat Name

Yeah I would do black as well. I have a blue main sail cover that just looks funny to me, I will be changing that to black when I can.
Plus anything blue you put on there will slow you down. ;-)

I guess it could be alignment, one of the brackets is bent a bit, just haven't got to fixing that yet.

Rudders 99x

So I thought that the newer style rudders where the narrower ones, but am I mistaken on that? Last time I was out I got stalled trying to fight weather helm. I did have full main but only a small amount of genoa out so I know that contributed, but I couldn't help think that the wider rudders might h...

Re: Does Ipad have GPS, A-GPS, or ????

I like the look of the navionics app. I will have to try that out. But I also want a purpose built GPS on the helm. If nothing else so I can see the screen. :-)
