Re: 26D or 26C
I use the 8hp 2cy. johnson sailmaster. seems to be plenty of power. cruise at 6kts, has a tricle charger on the motor, and very easy to strart and to pull up when not in use. If you use 50 t0 1 oil mixture, you can barely see the smoke. very dependable. The boat can take up to 40hp, if I live in San...

Re: Anybody know of any unhappy Mac owners?
I was reading a note that the marina wouldn't allow 26' sailboats. No problem for the Mac. this boat is 25' 10". Check your owen model true spec. not the adertisement banner.

Re: Mac comparisons
I have a 26D, 1990 model. easy to pull, and plenty of room been caught in 35kt winds, and she behaves well. did get the dagger board stuck in the mud once. the boat just spun around in 20kt winds until I could pull it out. I was on the maiden voyge, by myself. She is one of the most stable boats I e...

Re: MacGregor 26 the boat for Me???
I have a older classic 26D (1990) model. The boat is easy to set up. Can't say if I would save any time if I kept the boat in the water. I live next to lake Macatawwa in Holland, Mi. and I only live a mile from the boat ramp. That is a short enough distance that I don't even disconect the mass from ...

Re: Opinions about the Mac 19' Powersailer
I have a 26 Mac Classic. I see then for around 5 to 8 thousand. I love the pop-top on the cabin. the extra room and the stability of the boat in Lake Mich. Been caught in some high winds, 40kts, and felt stable in 6ft waves. I can't attest to towing under power, only has a 8hp Johnson, but love to t...

Re: My tender choice has been made (kayak)
I use the inflatable West Marine inflatable sail, kayak, windsurfer. It is like a twin size bed mattres that comes to a point. I can throw things on it, like ice cooler, ect. from the boat and stays on. I can get on and off it pretty easy. I keep it on the bow of the boat, inflated. The raft sticks ...

Re: Macgregor Mast Lifting System
I order my lifting system from MacGregor. He was real helpful. Had to order a different mast base plate. I have a 1989 26D Mac. Cost about 175 dollars. Best money I ever spent on the boat. Considering all the hardware, rope, and extra "baby stays", I don't know if I could have spent less m...

Re: What can you tell me about the 26D?
There wasn't any floatation in my boat in the bow . Afraid I can't attest to the the S model. You can crawl into the V-berth and take a look for yourself my rope container isn't hook to the deck. I could look into the container and check out the inside . I mounted a black piece of plastic on the dec...

Re: What can you tell me about the 26D?
In my 26D I cut a hole in the top deck near the bow so I can keep my achor on the deck, but keep my rope from the sun in side. My boat has a layer between the deck and the v-berth. I have over 200' of rope +'s 20' of chain in that space, with room to spare.

toll beast roll call
1996 aerostar, long wheel base all wheel drive. gets up the ramp with no problems. Even use the van to put my smaller boats off a dirt road,(beach). never pulled the boat over 1 mile so i don't know how stable it is over 25mph. In the winter the van will go through any thing. Pat

mast rising
Takes me about 45minutes from the time I leave the kitchen to the time i'm on lake macatawa with the sails up when I trailer it to the boat ramp. I only live a half mile from the boat ramp, so I leave the pin in the base of the mass. The mast sticks out about ten feet, and i don't go more than 25mph...

bad weather sailing
I do a lot of sailing in Lake Michigan. some times the winds are around 3-5 kt with smooth water, and in 30 minutes there will be 15-25 kts with 8 footers. waves will be pretty close together. Like to be out there when the Admiral isn't on board. Boat seems to ride better than anything smaller than ...
