I have been looking at these mods and I am wondering how a compass will work on top of all of the metal and electrical stuff in the pedestal. Should that cause the compass to go hay wire?

You guys who are tempting Posiedon are crazy. As for me, I have given Neptune more than enough cause to smote me from the seas after crossing the Equator twice without paying Homage. On my 3rd crossing I finally got the chance to become a Shellback (Golden Shellback if you please) The experience was...

Stopped by my friendly neighborhood West Marine last week trying to set up my outfitting list. They had fenders in 3 packs on sale for $99. they were about 2 feet long and about as big around as a volleyball. Am I thinking too big? Reason I ask is pics of Duanes' Allegro show fenders that are a lot ...

Jacksonville here, but I am currently boatless :( . Hoping to remedy that situation but it will probably be quite a while. Anybody need a crewman for the mug race?

I'll be starting a new job in the next few weeks so maybe I can accelerate the timetable. We'll see.

Ahhh Boomsday! I have spent many a Labor day holiday at that spectacular celebration. Always wondered what it would be like doing that from the river. What a blast.

Rook,
I am from Knoxville and do not remember any substantial wind on the lakes there abouts... and I grew up on Fort Loudon. Where in the heck are you "sailing" that thing? I would imagine the wind conditions had something to do with your choice of the Mac...

Holy smokes that is some nice work.

Does it weigh more than what was there before? I would think so much cabinetry might affect P/S balance. what say you?

Sure is purty though. I have been wondering about the differene between a Bimini and a Dodger. those pictures clear things up nicely. I am wondering how much utility one can get out of each. Since I will be mostly daysailing in warm weather I would think the dodger is really not required, but does i...

The thought of spending so much to get around fogged vinly and folded mylar makes me feel a little silly. :? I would think there would be a substantial distance visibility limitation using night vision. I haven't seen anything that is not military issue that can see more than 30 or 40 feet at night....

I read on the Mac website that they use the chainplates to seperate completed hulls from the molds at the factory. It seems to me, if you can lift over half to total weight of the boat just by the chain plates, they must be at least as strong as bulkhead mounted chain plates.
