Re: Towing a tube

I ended up selling the X in July 2016 and keeping the S. Bought a Stingray 200lx with the 5.0 V8 in May of 2016. I added a wakeboard tower to it for this summer 2018. What I found was regardless of prop I used on the X I would not be able to get on plane on a kneeboard which meant wakeboarding was o...

Re: Internal Haylard and Mast Floatation

A small boat with no ballast I understand why. You are out in high winds and when you make a mistake you will capsize. A floating mast will keep that type of boat from turning turtle while you right the boat. This boat will not capsize and stay there. The ballast will right it. If there is somethin...

Re: Internal Haylard and Mast Floatation

Those are highlanders pictures. Check with him on those hatches.

Also Foam floatation isn't only for floatation, its helpful to silence the clanging of thr wires inside. I have 4, 14ga wires in there.

Re: Do you tarp? How?

One thing I have learned with the Jet Skis which I usually keep the nice Honda covers on then 3-5 layers of tarps on top of that. I learned long ago that tighter isn't better. Let it flap in the wind a little, not a lot that is bad also. Tarps seem to last longer when I use them just secured not str...

Re: 1998 Mac X Aft Berth Leak

That is an interesting arrangement you've got there - running the cables directly from the pedestal aft to the steering linkage and kicker. That's an after-market mod, yes? Did you do this mod, or did the PO do this mod? That would free up the aft berth for sleeping. http://www.macgregorsailor.us/p...

Re: My First Sailboat... Needing knowledge on several issues

Save the trouble on the inner liner and use one of these as previously suggested. Then reinforce as needed for the bow loop. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KE7CHCI/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_2/181-9888862-9438538?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_r=0S7SWFXJMBMD4058RX7N&...

Re: My First Sailboat... Needing knowledge on several issues

On a lake, with smaller waves, it is feasible to beach the 25. I did it many times, but the abuse the keel will get on the beach on the gulf or a choppy lake would not be worth the risk.
