Re: 2007 26M Forestay & CDI-FF2 Furler Adjustments
I suggest that the furler line should have a block/pully mounted to the boat that feeds the line 90% to the drum. Or at least as close as you can get it. That way the line does not have forces pulling the drum up. I used the following mounted to the pullpit. https://www.westmarine.com/harken-40mm-c...

Re: 2007 26M Forestay & CDI-FF2 Furler Adjustments
https://i.postimg.cc/5j4NKCSr/CD-FF2.avif This is not normal. Looks like a shackle being used where the head stay pin should be used. Perhaps that is what caused the wear on the chainplate. Thanks! This thing was caused when I left the boat a few summers back and went away on a Greece vacation, onl...

Re: 2007 26M Forestay & CDI-FF2 Furler Adjustments
Re Q3, there is a pin that should be in the black roller. CDI calls it a "Luff support pin." The Luff Extrusion Is the long plastic part that your sail is wrapped around. the forestay runs through the center of it. The bottom end of the Luff Extrusion extends into the black roller (Furlin...

Re: 2007 26M Forestay & CDI-FF2 Furler Adjustments
Ĺot to respond but #7/8 - do NOT get on or under that boat without blocking up the back of the trailer w cinder block or stack 2x6. When the boat is off the bow roller even slightly the center of gravity can cause it to tilt back the trailer. Could be a dangerous situation. Thank you. This is the b...

2007 26M Forestay & CDI-FF2 Furler Adjustments
On my 2007 26M (standard issue BWY) I have a standard forestay with a CDI-FF2 Furler (on which I have a few questions...). My Forestay steel wire was getting frayed above the eye thimble where it connects at the masthead and I replaced it about 5 years back. Q1: My forestay pin has caused the hole o...

Re: Am I injuring my gel-coat?
Prishi, your boat looks great. Thanks for the encouragement! Was desparately needed. :D For the black topside oxidization, per another member's suggestion, I bought some of this OWATROL Marine Polytrol. I'm going to give it a go. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00D7IMVDQ Yes, ordered! Back to doing the ...

Re: Am I injuring my gel-coat?
Russ, Thank you very much for your timely and comprehensive response to my query! I used the 3M Compound from my garage and didn't realize they don't make it any more. I do have the Meguire compound and also Griot's line of products for cars, but have never done more than waxing and wheel cleaning o...

Am I injuring my gel-coat?
I've never quite done this before, therefore I ask. I used compound to scrub off the normal oxidation. Is this too much of material used? Also, the wax does not go away unless I use Bounty to wipe off; is that normal? Lastly, some spots quite some blue paint came off. What happened here? Should I ju...

Re: Winter 2019-20 - Boat Cover
I found the boat cover arrangement quite good over the past couple of years. There were no ice-dams (rather, ice-puddles) as the snow slide off the sides and I also had access into the boat all the while when there was not snow on the ground. I've done this over the past 4 years and am quite satisfi...

Re: Forestay on the las 3 strands!
Be very careful of that "temporary repair". Don't make it permanent. Putting any sort of stress on that would be extremely risky as the aluminum collar can slip easily due to the shear stresses at the connection point of the 2 steel wire-ropes.

Re: M forestay
Yes, I can put my hand up for this one! I had the forestay pin work adrift from its connection at the CD Furler to the stem of the boat. I can't say how. I had left my boat on moorings and did not visit it for a month as I was on an overseas vacation. When I came back I saw that my Mast had fallen d...

Re: Engine not starting – Ground Fault?
Folks, to wrap this up.... Initially, it was dead batteries. I recharged the batteries and the engine was still not starting after cranking a doz times - I don't want to kill the starter! Opened Engine cover. Replaced 3 Spark Plugs with Suzuki Spark Plugs Replaced Low Pressure Fuel Filter Replaced H...

Winter 2019-20 - Boat Cover
Hey folks, So this year's New York Fall allowed me to make my boat cover just in time before it gets horribly cold to do this! :x This year, I've used tall PVC Pipe for the frame-work. I started with cross-hitches of twine on the horizontal mast and verticals. I only used nylon twine for all this wo...

Re: New Mainsheet System (Airblock purchase)
I suspect BWY is merely closed for the 4th of July Holiday. I expect you can reach them next week. They always have great service in the past. I only wish to reiterate that I got a call back from BWY and they were extremely helpful. Infact they answered questions on my Forward Chain Plate, the CDI ...
