Re: raising v21 mast solo
Gin pole works fine on my V22. Problem is that aft raked shrouds don't give any support till the mast is all the way up. I use temporary shrouds on the gin pole anchored to eyes on the deck athwart of the mast. Seems to work OK. I hear you on the danger. Not only can it damage any thing nearby, it c...

Re: 1979 V22 - New owner with questions.
The horn cleat at the top of stalk is the key. A piece of line through the hole in the forward side of the rudder threaded up through the pintle brackets to the cleat will hold it down. The same rig through the aft holes holds it up for launching. By the way: Noticed that your rudder stops a little ...

HIN Records
I've just finished (hopefully) refitting a nearly totalled 1970 Venture 22 HIN-315. Is there any way to trace the history of the boat through the hull identification number? I found the trace of the name "Airik" on the transom. The boat looks as if it may have been beached recently. Hull w...

Re: Swing keel up when moored?
Need to replace the pendant. Thinking of using 1/4" 7/19 aircraft cable (teflon? coated). Where do I find the banjo fitting at the bottom to receive the bolt? Expected it terminates in a threaded rod which accepts the banjo and lock nut. Note: Pendant is 3/16 7x19 stainless cable. Replaced it ...

Need to replace the pendant. Thinking of using 1/4" 7/19 aircraft cable (teflon? coated). Where do I find the banjo fitting at the bottom to receive the bolt? Expected it terminates in a threaded rod which accepts the banjo and lock nut. Scratch the above. Replaced it with a new SS 3/16" 7...

Re: First timer here, and just got a V22
Just finished a major refit of a '70 V22. - Cleaned up down to bare hull and removed old peeling paint. - Reinforced stringer to transom connection (poorly done in manufacture and other spots throughout) - Painted topsides and inside. - Replaced all the plywood. - Replaced cloudy safety glass with n...

Re: Capacity Placard
A U.S.Coast Guard inspection should not fail you for a missing capacity, plate though it, the HIN, and Certificate of Compliance. Though these are required, they must come from the manufacturer. On a C. G. Vessel Examination, you will be advised to contact the dealer for replacements. SeamanLou, (U....

Re: Rigging Size Inquiry
Noticed some damage on my 70 V22 at the PORT CHAINPLATE. Another "as bought" pic shows the whole thing torn out - plate, deck and hull. I would be careful about this. More important to keep them snug to prevent shock loads as you tack/gibe. They are simply bolted to the hull with 3 large s...
