Bimini measurement please?

Hi, So I ordered a bimini for our 26X (2000)... After reading the search results on this website, I ordered a 32" height by 73" wide (on the bows) and 5' long.. It came on Friday.... We assembled it on Sunday (at the boat, 1 hour away) and it was "way too tall"... So today, I cal...

My Yamaha 9.9 (4 stroke) averaged 12-13 MPG (GPS logged) over the last two years also. Like you, I only used 12 gallons last year... Gee, we worry more about "if the gas has gone bad", than how much... That's a real nice problem!

I've never had a problem with the 9.9 hp not handling the 26X in wind, and most of the years, I sail Lake Superior... The Yamaha is very easy to tilt up. I have a friend using a 8 hp. version that has "electric tilt"... JR

Anyone else use "wimp" motors?

Ahoy, I've had two 26X's (a 95 and a 2000) both with small motors. These were 9.9 or 15 hp... The darn boat sails "really nice" with less metal hanging off the back and I still manage 7-8 mph under power... The present rig is a 4 stroke 9.9 Yamaha and without ballast, you would swear it mi...

Maybe you should check with "Western Sailcraft" (Doug, the Minneapolis dealer 952-492-6028?)... He had a nearly un-used set for a 2000 26X for sale...
Good luck,

What works?

I was in "Sailfest 2006" on Lake Superior today.... The race started out rainy, (I got a PHRF of 233)... The first part of the race was light winds(and downwind) and we held our spot, getting passed by only 3 other boats... As we rounded Basswood Island the weather cleared and the wind bui...

On Lake Superior, my requirement it that PFD's are a "requirement", especially after my "accident" in 1997... A group of us "single handed sailors"( 2 of us teach sailing, we should know!) it turned out that there were only 3 boats that rafted up for the evening at Rash...

9.9 hp 4 stroke

I have a Yamaha 9.9 hp on my 2000 26X... It works great and is real quiet. Believe it or not, the high thrust 9.9 hp almost puts the 26X on a plane (without the water ballast). I was sailing today, on Lake Superior (Bayfield,WI. )... With the 9.9: the boat sails very well (Ok, boys, I sail this boat...

twist lok marine connectors

I just added built in power to my 26X. After suffering "sticker shock" at the local West Marine store, I went to a local farm supply store (Mills Fleet Farm) and bought a similar connector for 1/3 the price. I mounted the connector in the front of the anchor locker, and ran 12 gauge flexib...

shore power again

I mounted my twist lok 20 amp receptacle in the front of the anchor locker. Drill the proper sized hole, then fish a chunk of 12 ga. flexible cable back to your power panel. I used a 20 amp breaker, followed by a ground fault receptacle. Most of the time you nose the boat into the slip, why run cord...

Thanks in advance,

Years back, I had a 26D on Lake Superior... We sailed all day, with a Bayfield 32 (friends)... Late in the day, we stopped at Stockton Island (Julian Bay)..`Happy hour, food and bed (too much sun also)... Later in the evening while anchored next to the Bayfield 32, a passing thunderstorm hits us... ...

mast to galley wiring

I just did it yesterday on a 2000 26X. 1. I removed the two smoke plexiglass pieces and used a "fishtape" towards the port channel and out one of the access holes (remove the white plugs). 2. Then I went aft to the next access hole that has a large channel going to the wall. (little steps)...

extra genoa?

Hi,
I'm looking for a genoa for a 26X.. The local sailmaker said I was 14th in line and I could expect a new one on "the second tuesday of next week"... Does anyone have a slightly used one for sale? Let me know how much...
Thanks,
Jim
