Re: What would happen if I fell overboard? (Single handing)
Thank you. It is a very informative video and well-made. I appreciate the fact that he stresses the importance of staying on the boat and the difficulty of the single-handed recovery even under controlled, best-case conditions. Add in even one less-than-best-case condition and your chances for succe...

Re: Our 26X boat tour on the last day of our Powell trip
You have given this much thought. That can be dangerous. I wonder how many TRUE 12v devices we have on our boats. You are probably right about LEDs being tolerant of dual voltage. I guess all this relies heavily on dual 12v batteries in a series. If one fails, the whole system might suffer. Or not ...

Re: $150 and a Wallyworld cutting board
Yes, you need a fuse between the house battery and the Perko switch. Not putting a fuse on the starter battery is acceptable. There are two things to consider when sizing the fuse on the house bank: The maximum load you plan to put on the circuit The maximum load the wire can support in case of an ...

Re: $150 and a Wallyworld cutting board
Roger that, I wish I knew how to quote all 3 of you for the reply but basically I should have a fuse between the house battery and the Perko switch? Starter battery to perko is not fused and that’s ok? I am leaning toward keeping the starter one raw because of things I’ve heard about the added resi...

Re: A New Journey Begins for OverEasy - 2023/2025
I know how you feel. My giddyup and go has done got up and went. I checked the temperature yesterday at 8AM and it said the heat index was 108 degrees. We are covered with humid air and no breeze right now; 87 degrees with 107 heat index. I think I'm actually rooting for that system that's sitting o...

Re: Wish I had done this! (ballast blowout)
I am looking at anchoring in a shallow water spot on a nearby lake and see your ability to pressure the water out of ballast intriguing . Question , has anyone ever measured their 26x ‘s depth difference between ballast being full vs empty? When I first got her I did try to compare the difference m...

Re: keel cable replace
The spec I use for those clamps is "good-n-tight". That's a little tighter than "really-snug" and a little less than "really-tight".

Re: **NEW OWNER** Helm Station Repairs and Other Mods
First of all, WELCOME! We're glad to have you here! Engine controllers are usually "reversible". You may have to open it up to move things around. Think about where the electrical, throttle, and shifter cables will have to be run if you move it. If your pedestal still has the factory smoke...

Re: $150 and a Wallyworld cutting board
That looks so much better. Great job! Russ is right about the terminal fuse and Overeasy is right about the length. You need a fuse on the house battery for sure. ABYC does not require a fuse on a dedicated start battery. I've heard valid arguments on both sides of the question. I chose not to insta...

Re: Motor sound changed. Change is bad
If you are comfortable with the condition of the oil then perhaps it is something under the flywheel. I had a problem with mine where the covering on the exciter coil started coming apart. It was my own fault caused by severely overheating the engine. The heat melted the wiring inside the coil in ad...

Herschel,
I just saw this and I'm so sorry to hear you are sick. I'm in Windermere for another day or two. Is there anything I can do for you?

That's where I keep mine although I opted for them matching white PVC and white zip ties.PhysicsTeacher wrote: ↑Sun Jul 06, 2025 8:41 am This works OK for me:

Re: Motor sound changed. Change is bad
If his nose confirms my suspicions, the fix is well within the skills he's already demonstrated. If it turns out to be water in the oil then the fix is changing a gasket that is just a little past where he's already been OR the block is cracked and it is probably unfixable. I'm pulling for the easy ...
