Re: Mac25 Bow Trailer Attachment Question

We had the exact same issue on our 25, and just repaired it. When we pulled it out of the slip last year, it was actually the first time we'd ever put it back on the trailer, and I don't know if it was because the lake was low or our inexperience, but we couldn't get the bow all the way up against i...

Motor Mount Advice

Well, after being away for a long while, from both our '84 Mac 25 and the board, we're working towards getting back on the water. 2013 saw a change in role with my job, and a move from North Texas to Nebraska. After far too long a hiatus, we're getting ready to sail large and windy Lake McConaughy i...

Re: Howdy everyone!

Great looking boat! (I may have a slight bias...). What's in the black tarp forward of the mast in one of your pictures? Beautiful setting to sail her in too! We will soon have to move from Texas to Colorado, and are looking forward to sailing some lakes with mountains in the background as well. ntz...

Re: Using older gas

Gas degrades over time, so what may have been 87 octane may be considerably lower by now. It may run OK, but could also prove hard to start and be more prone to pre-ignition (knocking/pinging) that can damage the piston. May want to get some fresh fuel and use the old stuff for your weedeater if the...

Re: New to sailing, opportunity to get a Venture

It is a heck of a deal in a monetary sense, and as others have said, the rest is work, and that really depends on how much time you have to devote to. In the case of our project, I found last year that work and travel and life and getting married and having my first grandchild were all getting in th...

On the Water!

Hello All, We've had our Mac 25 on the water for a couple of months now, and for almost all that time, she's sat in a slip. We ran into considerable difficulty with the original Johnson Sailmaster 8 (although I'm still convinced it will live again), so I finally broke down and ordered a new outboard...

Re: Prop Suggestions

Wondering why you decided on the Nissan over the Tohatsu since they are the same and the Tohatsu is about $80 less at Onlineoutboards, I'm very fortunate to work for a company where I can get some good deals on some boating things, and this was one where we could on the Nissan but Tohatsu not offer...

Re: Prop Suggestions

ntzman28 I just realized you have Eagle Mountan lake. I race over there some times. Did you participate in the Leukemia cup two weeks ago? I was over there helping Wings a 26d as a bow man. Grady, Very cool to have a neighbor! We're both too new to have any involvement in racing. The boat has been ...

Re: Prop Suggestions

Our 25 came with an 86 Johnson 8 hp sailmaster, and I've gone through quite a bit trying to get it to run correctly. After changing the water pump, tearing down and cleaning the carb thoroughly and repeatedly and changing parts, and cleaning the mud dauber nests out of the exhaust, I could get it to...

Error when registering

Hello All, Does anyone know who to go with or where to post questions on how to register for the site/forums? I joined shortly after we got our Mac, and now my wife would like to join, but when we go all the way through the registration process, we get an error page that says something about insuffi...

Re: First Launch Mac 25 Advice

Well, we were stuck there for a bit, but worked out ok. This past Saturday, I finished some work on the boat, getting sonar/gps unit installed and capping off a thru-hull that a PO had installed for a sink drain. Also had to replace a backing plate for a traveller eye strap in the cockpit. The origi...

Re: Our Mac 25 Photos

Since I travel extensively for work and just was never going to find the time to get her ready for the water, we had a boat yard in Dallas do the rubrail-down restoration and bottom job. They ground the old paint and rust off the keel, then painted with a rust-inhibiting primer. Topped with an epoxy...

Re: First Launch Mac 25 Advice

Thanks so much for the advice. I was especially wondering how she'd do backing up. Our marina doesn't really afford the opportunity to walk her out with a line due to the way the ramp, docks, and a stationary houseboat are positioned. I'll post how things go if we get to launch her this weekend. On ...

First Launch Mac 25 Advice

Hello All, If all goes well, hope to launch our Mac 25 for the first time this coming weekend. I've launched and assisted in launching powerboats from trailers my whole life, but understand that launching a sailboat from a trailer will be a more challenging experience. We'll be at our home marina, w...
