Re: Tattoo 26 Production Suspended, factory relocating
This is too bad, as but for the 26M I would not have gotten into sailing. And unfortunately I don't see much future for the 22 either. I was on the Bene First 20 and could see the built quality (references to IKEA boat aside), but it was much too crammed inside compared to the 26M. Even at same pric...

"No one thinks of a Volkswagen as a luxury car." Haha, no kidding. You forgot the VW Phaeton - a technology leader that wouldn't sell. Why, because they tried to compete with Benz and BMW with the People's Car nameplate. http://www.wired.com/2015/01/well-didnt-work-turns-americans-didnt-wa...

Re: 2 forestays?
Guys, I'm resurrecting this old thread, since I found it looking for a specific idea. I'm going to change my hank-on jib to a furler. In planning on that, I thought: what about having a "back-up" forestay - not for a sail, but as backup in case something goes wrong, i.e., preventing the ma...

"Companionways and ladders do not have to be on the centerline, aft cabins don't have to be symmetrical" Bavaria Vision 42/46. The vision is actually a very good asymmetrical design. "the V-area doesn't have to be a separate cabin" Bene Oceanis 35/38. Separate if you want it, int...

Russian Drivers and Rednecks with boats
So, I admit that one of my favorite pastime is watching YouTube videos of Russian drivers and Rednecks with boats. Regarding the Rednecks, there are a lot of videos showing them trying to get the truck, trailer, boat and kitchen sink out of the water. But, what I never find is a video of how they tu...

Re: Opinions on this etc 90 for my 26x
Not to confuse you more, but the Etec 60 is really plenty for the Macgregor. The low end torque is superior to competitors 4-stroke engines, and it's lighter. I would take a new, dealer installed, Etec 60 over a used, owner installed, Etec 90 any time. Check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

Re: Opinions on this etc 90 for my 26x
Mine was a dealer installation, so I think there are dealers who will install Etec 90. BWY recommends Suzuki 70, so the 60 is not the limit. Note that the Suzuki weighs 341 lbs while the Etec 60 only 240lbs and Etec 90 320lbs.

Re: Opinions on this etc 90 for my 26x
I have Etec 90 on my
and its good motor. Why the headache? Get new one installed and know everything is doe right and warranted. You are not saving much to buy this used one, and you don't know what you'll end up with.

Re: What extra fuel line parts do you carry?
In one of my outings, as I tried to change from one tank to another, the connector to the tank totally exploded on my, with spring, o-ring, ball, etc., flying all over the cockpit. I managed to catch everything before flying over to the water, and managed to reconstruct it sufficiently good to go ba...
