Re: Morse steering system maintenance
Thank you for the additonal info Jimmy. I'll pull the linkage from the motor and see what I've got at that point. And I'll do that motor end maintenance too. Thanks again, Bob

Re: Morse steering system maintenance
Thanks for the reply Jimmy. Much appreciated. I'm just trying to prevent future issues with preventive maintenance. I will look into the stuff you mentioned. I do like the pressure lube from the aft concept you mentioned. Something to look into as there seems to be no way to lubricate the system fro...

Morse steering system maintenance
Hi, I have a 1997 Mac 26X and I'd like to lubricate the Morse steering system. Do I need to split the helm assembly box to pull and lubricate the cable? Are there parts in the helm assembly that need lubricating? I haven't been successful in finding any useful information on servicing this unit. Tha...

Re: Stuck Centerboard
Thanks for all the great advice guys. It's still a little cold for swimming and I just happen to have a small diameter fiberglass tent pole, so I will try that idea. Another idea I thought might work would be to get the boat on the trailer (and on level ground) and run one of those ratchet tiedown s...

Re: Stuck Centerboard
Sorry for the misleading info on my ID. I have a Mac 22 that I'm restoring, but the boat with the stuck keel is on my 1997 Mac 26X. Too many boats, right? Bob

Stuck Centerboard
I suspect my centerboard is stuck in the up position on my 26X. Is this possible? I put it in the water after winter storage, and I have a lot of slack in my centerboard pull line. Steering is slack too. I didn't sail. How can I confirm that the centerboard is down? If it is stuck, can I dislodge it...

Companionway hatch cover lubrication
Hi, I'm looking for lubrication recommendations for the companionway hatch cover on my MacGregor 26X. I'm thinking an petroleum based lube would just pick up abrading particles and grind them in. What do you guys recommend? Thanks, Bob

Re: Removing the plastic covers at top of center support on
Thanks Tony. This helps a lot. I just didn't want to break anything internally as I was pulling them off. Now I know I won't.

Removing the plastic covers at top of center support on M26X
Hi, I need to get to the mast wiring at the top of the center support/keel cable guide on my 1997 Mac 26X. There is a split black plastic cover around the support pole at the cabin top. How do I remove that cover? Do I pry the halfs off or is it attached some other way? Thanks for the help, Bob

Replacing the Bow pulpit on a Mac 26X
Hi, I'm replacing my banged up bobw pulpit with a new one on my Mac 26X. I removed the smoked plastic cover from the bow ceiling. Do I get to the nuts be removing the Styrofoam in the ceiling of the bow, below the anchor well? Thanks, Bob
