Betty R back on Brisbane Water
After a lay up of nearly 9 months, my Mac26X Betty R is back on Brisbane Water, NSW. I'd not had much time for sailing due to work and moving house. However, our new home at Daleys Point on Brisbane Water has a very obliging neighbor with a Jetty. Betty R is now moored less than 2 minutes walk from ...

Sailing on Brisbane Water, Central Coast
Sailed 'Betty R' on Brisbane Water on Saturday. Not a great deal of wind, but rain kept off. Got the cruising chute up too. Snuck over towards Green Point & Springfield and spent a very pleasant 2hrs in the company of a friendly juvenile Dolphin! Such an amazing animal, and happy to swim alongsi...

Re: Crusing Chute - First time up !
The Southern Cross design Cruising Chute came with the boat when I purchased her in Oct. Other than a quick rigging check on the trailer outside my house I'd never had the opportunity to fly it. Last weekend my Brother in law was down from UK and as he's a Sailor too, I was able let him helm whilst ...

Crusing Chute - First time up !
Spent some time sailing 'Betty R' on Broken Bay and Brisbane Water over past few weekends. Last Sunday I finally managed to raise the Cruising chute for the first time. Really happy how it set, and the smooth power it gave the boat. Even more impressed with the Southern Cross design it has. Am I all...

Re: Swinging Mooring
Thanks for the advice Chaps. I think I've found a solution 8) About 300 meters up the road from our House on St Huberts Island live an elderly couple. They're ex-boaties, and are happy for me to leave Betty R on they're private Jetty every once in a while. So on the odd weekend when my wife and I wa...

Swinging Mooring
Have any of you guys had experience with a Mac26x on a swinging mooring long term? I'm begining to think that leaving my Boat on the water with Mast up, Boom off, Ballast full (& using tender) would make things a bit easier, especially when we're sailing on and off over several days. Betty R is ...

Re: Weekend Sail to Bobbin Head
I'll definitely look at upgrading the Trailer. It needs work anyway, so now is a good time to do several jobs on it. I viewed the Mac 26x for sale it Gosford a couple of Months ago. It was OK, but needed new Electronics and several $000's of TLC to make her sound and sea worthy. :( Had she been chea...

Weekend Sail to Bobbin Head
Launch or :macx: "Betty R" from Patonga on Sunday. Narrow ramp with good sandy beach either side. Then had a very relxing Sail & Motor up the Hawkesbury, into Cowan Creek towards Bobbin Head (Empire Marina) within Ku-ring-gai National Park. Beautiful scenery, and a great day to be out ...

Re: Trailer - Broken Centre Pad
Thanks Guys, Really helpful advice. It looks as though only one bolt has failer or pulled thru the centre Bunk block on the LHS of trailer. I'm planning to launch the Mac26X this Sunday and moor her off somewhere whilst I assess the damage/repairs to trailer. I also know that the LHS upright guide b...

Trailer - Broken Centre Pad
Hi, At the weekend, the Port side Support on the trailer (the one Level with centre Board, 'carpet' coated) broke away at the inner most bolt. The whole thing swung around about 120 degrees and came to rest still supporting the boat, but now with one end still attached to the original position, and ...

Re: Main Uphaul back to Cockpit & Lazy Jacks
Can you post some pics or diagrams of how the Uphaul line runs back. I'm assuming it needs 2-3 blocks and a cleat, but I don't want to start drilling before I know wheer to place them.
Lazy jacks / Sail cover sounds ideal. Photos too please

Main Uphaul back to Cockpit & Lazy Jacks
Has anyone modified they're 26X to have the Main Uphaul coming back to the Cockpit? :) I'm just trying to think of ways to make life easier. Also keen on not having to keep shouting back back from the Mast to my wife in the Cockpit to "keep her into wind!" :? . I had a similar system on my...
