Re: Anybody still sailing?
Sailed yesterday on the Chesapeake near Annapolis, great day but unfortunately my marina is shutting down for the season. Winterized the boat today and moved to it's winter storage. Sounds like you must be the fellow we met who swung by Leesylvania State Park just a while back to size it up. That A...

Like HuzurPapa, I slide mine between the sliding galley and the wall, it's never moved regardless of heel angle.

Re: Any MAC owners in the Baltimore / Chesapeake area?
I'm sailing http://www.macgregorsailors.com/forum/posting.php?mode=reply&f=9&t=26290#out of Mayo, MD. Casa Rio marina. I was headed that way this evening to launch, spend the night on the boat and sail all day tomorrow. I was willing to battle the rain but not the traffic. Couldn't get out o...

Re: Full face snorkel masks - new to me
We took a trip to the BVI last december and the other couple brought some of those masks. They are very nice for snorkeling at the surface, since you can't reach your nose, you can't clear the pressure in your ears so diving down any significant depth is out of the question. My wife, with no snorkel...

Re: Photos from Suffolk
Thanks for posting. I love KTL, Dylan does incredible work, exceptional quality. I was stationed at RAF Woodbridge back in the 80s, lived in Trimley St Mary. My son was born in the Ipswich hospital. Unfortunately I hadn't discovered sailing yet but spent a lot of time cycling through East Anglia.

Re: Monday Never documents mid Atlantic rescue
Speaking of sailing with out a rudder. I'll see if I can find the Youtube channel about the guy that left Hawaii for the US. Three hundred miles + off the HI coast he sheers the rudder shaft. Using only his sails he turns the boat around and sails 24/7 back to HI. Once in radio range he calls ahead...

Re: Real rescue with 26X
Very interesting discussion that I haven't given much thought to previously. I don't have a vang presently, I think I could drop the main, secure the boom to the aft cabin stantion on the opposite side from the victim, and use the main sheet tackle, still secured to the traveler, to pull them either...

Re: single handed main reefing pre-hoisting underway
I have taken the advice to reef early to heart and am able to knock it out in just a few minutes. I'll echo BOAT's words on the autopilot, makes it a simple matter to keep the boat headed into the wind. I installed the BWY single-line reefing system and while there are some downsides to it (extra li...

MacGregors near Mayo, Maryland
I'm on the move from Alabama back to the upper Chesapeake. Any MacGregor sailors near Mayo? I'm planning to use Casa Rio Marina.

Re: Oxidation removal
I never tried Bar Keepers Friend but I did use a host of marine waxes and then rubbing compound with marginal success. I ended up wet sanding and it came out looking like new but it was a lot of work.
