Model Years With Sliding Galley & No Lead Ballast?
I'm not sure but I think that the first year to have a sliding galley was 2005 and the first year to have a lead ballast was 2007. Therefore, the only two model years to have no lead ballast with a sliding galley was 2005-2006. Is this correct? Thanks. :macm: Edit: I did not know that there would be...

No Go....
Well, Nobody has replied nor PM'ed me saying that they've went to Cuba. I was wondering if someone has gone LEGALLY and could tell me how it could be done LEGALLY. Obviously, as k9piper pointed out, it is NOT legal to go. I do not mean to suggest that I want to break the law by going to Cuba through...

Viva la Cuba Libre!
Pokerrick1: I looked everywhere regarding a law "17" saying that it is illegal to go to Cuba, but could not find anything. Then, it suddenly hit me. You're referring to the 17 year old girl's MySpace page, right? It is perfectly legal to dance the Salsa with her and if your wife is not jea...

Well, I might be able to do it legally soon....
The oil companies are lobbying Congress for business permission to go to Cuba due to a discovery of oil in Cuba. They are very pi$$ that the embargo is keeping them from all that good oil. As soon as Castro is officially dead (some say that he's already dead), this will forge ahead. I have a friend ...

Cuba, anyone?
I know, I know... the Cuban embargo has been in place since forever.... I read somewhere (I forgot where) on the web that you could go to Cuba and not get in trouble by sailing to Bahamas first, then continuing on to Cuba (so you're not on the Coast Guard sonar screen as a Cuban-bound vessel from th...

Exciting Adventure....
Sounds like an exciting adventure.... If I were in San Fran, I'd join you and form a flotilla. If you have that many people aboard your boat, then you'd have to have a rotation system so that you'll have a minimum of 1 to 2 persons below deck in the cabin at all times. Too many people topside at the...

Take the GPS with a grain of salt
To quote the great Mr. Torroba who sailed from Panama to the Phillipines in an open dugout canoe, "If you watch and pay attention you will never hit a reef,” Alberto told us. “Sailors who get shipwrecked do so because of overconfidence in their navigation equipment, not because of a lack of it....

Sailing with Civvies.
When sailing with civilians, (non-sailors such as wives, girlfriends, lovers, etc) you should always remember all the dohs! you went through when you first learned sailing. I suggest that if you have some helmets around the house, everybody on board a boat should have one if you have civilians aboar...

Cruising on a Budget....
I've spent all my dough on the Mac, so everything else is on a microbudget. James Baldwin of "Atom Voyages" circumnavigated the globe without any charts. He used tracing paper and photocopies. All he had was "limited day sailing experience". He had no GPS, either. Jame's Website:...

cheap 0 compass
I use a cheap $5 boy scout's compass. It comes in a small plastic bulb so that it points in the same direction and stays level even if the boat is rocking. I use a el-cheapo handheld GPS (Gecko Garmin) that costs me less than $100 on eBay. You can program waypoints into it to help you navigate a cou...

parking on front lawn
Hi, Any of you have the following experience? Parking on the front lawn... is is possible to drag it on and off the curb with the help of a temporary/removable ramp? If so, what did you use for the ramp. Also, after a rain, do you have trouble with the boat sinking into the mud and getting stuck? Do...

Cheap Inflatable Dinghy!
All the previous posts recommending dinghies were too expensive ($300 - 1000). The following 4 man dinghy only costs $163 including 2 pairs of oars and air pump. Does anybody have any experiences with this inflatable dinghy?
