Re: Bottom/top paint question
Thank you for the suggestions! I was under the impression that bottom paint was not advised because it would come off but it turns out it just looses its effectiveness which will be a non-issue. Because heavy sanding isn't fun and I would have to remove the current paint as anything else wouldn't st...

Bottom/top paint question
Can you put topside paint over bottom paint? I'm buying a new-to-me boat in two weeks and from the pictures it looks to have had anti-fouling on the bottom as it was slipped most of the year. The bottom does need some attention and there are a few gouges and looks pretty rough. I plan to trailer sai...

Re: Should I fix this?
Its nice to know it doesn't go all the way through to the interior. It does go all the way down the trunk and it very strait which leads me to believe it is a seam. I guess at this point I will not worry about it as it doesn't seem to get worse, leak, or flex. Thanks for the info

Should I fix this?
So I am going into my second season sailing and I'm starting to notice all the imperfections on my 88 Mac D. I have grounded a couple of times and am noticing some cracks front and aft of my dagger-board trunk but more concerning is the 1/16'' open seam running up the front (inside) of the trunk. I ...

Re: Lowering the Boom
Thank you. Probably saved me a BIG headache.
Muscle head it is. It has full battens so this should work well.

Lowering the Boom
I recently found a really good deal on a new mainsail but is a bit too long (leech and luff). I have tried several things to accommodate the extra length and don't want to return it because of the good price I got. I want to lower my boom attachment point on the mast about 3-4" to accommodate t...

Re: boomvange for second mainsheet
Thanks for all the responses :) I will go ahead and install the pad eyes for now and play around with that for a while until I can find a traveler in my price range. There are no salvage yards in my area so a traveler would have to come from ebay when it does happen. As for mounting location; I will...

Re: boomvange for second mainsheet
Looks like I was backwards about when the boomvang will be available to be used as a second mainsheet but I might add another mainsheet if that is cheaper than a traveler 8) Ha, I was wondering why I couldn't find any info on doing this mod. Now, I am wondering how much speed I could gain from a tra...

boomvange for second mainsheet
Hi, I was wondering if I could use my factory boomvang as a second mainsheet on my 1988 26d. I am on a pretty tight budget right now and a traveler is just not in the cards right now so I was thinking about installing a couple of pad eyes on either side of the mainsheet deck attachment. I don't need...
