I live in the area and sail a Tattoo 26. I don't keep my boat locally so I'd definitely be up for a sail on Fridays. Send me a personal message and I'll give you my phone number.
Take care and fair winds

Re: BWY Steering Mod
Thanks for posting the picture for the steering mod. I've been thinking about doing this to my
but wasn't sure if it worked well with the ETEC 60. Was the installation just a bolt-on affair, aka easy? Thanks again.

Re: question about a tow vehicle
I tow with a 2012 Ford F-150 4x4 Ecoboost. This particular truck has a tow rating of 11,300 pounds. As such, I have no problem pulling the Tattoo 26. That being said, your Hyundai will probably pull the 26x moderately ok, but, I'd be very worried about the short wheelbase and more importantly the br...

Re: How do you guys tie up your rudders while underway...
I have had no issues with a cleat hitch on the water. I do like the idea of tying a loop to pull over the cleat when raising the rudders. For trailering I ditched the bolts and replaced them with SS Clevis pins with hitch pin clips- no tools needed. I have also launched with the pins still in. Luck...

Re: What is the "snout" on this Mac 26M boat cover for?
I believe it's for a roller furler. If you did, when the mast is attached to the pulpit, the furler will extend beyond the mast. This is not the best picture for showing what I mean, but I think it works well enough. Do you see how the furler extends beyond Nice Afts bow :?: Ray Ray is correct. I h...

Re: How do you guys tie up your rudders while underway...
As per the MacX manual I always insert the small bolt through the rudder brackets and the rudders themselves. I think it's about a 2.5" bolt with a 7/16 head. The hole in the rudder brackets lines up with a hole in the top of the rudders when they are almost at their vertical position. The man...

Re: Trailerable Clearance for Mac 26
You will likely need to strap the mast to the deck rather than carrying it in the normal bow-pulpit to mast-arch configuration, because that angles the mast upward at the end. You'll be able to tell when you back it in. . I agree, the mast angle will be an issue. Another option is to create another...

Re: Winter Reading List
Thanks all for the recommendations, I really appreciate it. The only book on the list that I've read (so far) is the Shackleton book and I agree with the poster, it's a great story!

Re: Thinking about the Bahamas. . . Again
It sounds like you have your boat set up nicely for cruising out to the Bahamas. Only two suggestions come to mine right now. First, you might give consideration to being able to safely and conveniently carry some extra fuel in plastic jerry containers. You'll want to conservatively estimate your m...

Winter Reading List
Hey all, With the :tat26: stuck under several inches of snow, I thought now would be a good time to read some sailing literature while I wait for spring. Do any of you have suggestions on good sailing books to read? I'm interested in any sailing related topics including but not limited to - Biograph...

Re: Tattoo 26 with Sail Warehouse 26M Winter Cover
What are you using for tied owns. Lots nicer than what I am using! The tie down line is actually cheap Nylon from The Home Depot that I picked up. I measured, cut the nylon to length, cut a bowline in one end (end of the boat i don't walk past), pass the line through the loop on the bowline and thr...

Re: Downsizing to a 9.9 Opinions
We were told that most Mac owners either go with 9.9 hp or 40hp, but that we needed at least 40hp to plane to empty the ballast tanks unless we just drained from the trailer. Any truth to that? :tat26: With our :tat26: , I am pleased with the 60HP Etec performance but I would have gotten the Suzuki...
