Re: Help for restoring a MacGregor 26X, model year 2000
Retcoastie thank you for your reply. I will post some clarifications after the weekend. My photos should have included a ruler next to the items for comparison purposes, and of course the length of the lines. About "c" yes, there is water filter under the sink. I will check that out. Tomf...

Re: Need to make a decision on make of motor
I had the 1997 Honda 50, it is no match for my 2013 Merc. 50 bigfoot... ... Time has tested the 50 bigfoot after 20 years in service and parts are easy to find and much less costly. Mac X is rated for 50 hp, most marine installers will not put on more HP... ... My feeling is that adding a 90 hp tha...

Re: Need to make a decision on make of motor
I will vote for a Honda anytime anywhere. I am not an experienced sailor but I know of engines since I am servicing/ repairing my own cars electronic or not (plus my outboard Honda). I found all the repair manuals I needed, plus parts catalog etc, online (but not for Yamaha). I hope it helps :) :mac...

Re: Asking for the original Rig Layout for MacGregor 26X
We have an 02X that has not been modified in the sailing area. We can provide pictures of what you may think is missing or incorrect... Great please do send some photos!! :) :) What you describe is what I have or very close. There is what I think is a cam-cleet next to each winch, tracks adjacent t...

Re: Asking for the original Rig Layout for MacGregor 26X
I think everything you are looking for in the manual. You can find them in the "Resources" tab. Cheers Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the manual(s) are good as long as all the fittings are installed and labeled from the factory, and I am probably missing some of the blocks (not sure ...

Asking for the original Rig Layout for MacGregor 26X
Dear all, I have to refit all sailing related parts to a :macx: (year 2000). The previous owner removed almost everything that was related to sailing (except the winches, mast base, and other very basic hull and deck parts). I have successfully re-installed the mast so far. :?: Is there any informat...

Rigging Dear friends, here are some photos (on furling) from a :macx: found in a local bay. This is what I need to restore my :macx: to its original version (or better). :?: I doubt if these below show the original setup, do they? https://drive.google.com/uc?authuser=0&id=0B26hopEaGKZPZFY1UVJfS...

Fixed it (and my other postings) the same way the moderator fixed it earlier for me, that is by changing the link parameters. I will check the tinypic.com too.Tomfoolery wrote:Can't see the pics. Try hosting them on tinypic.com or some other hosting site.

Re: Help for restoring a MacGregor 26X, model year 2000
Try it again with Young's modulus at 29.9E6 psi, OD=1.51", and ID=1.38". That's what 1-1/4" EMT would give you, resulting in much higher Pcr, even with half the wall thickness (and Fy has no bearing on buckling here), though at a little more weight penalty than the aluminium version....

Re: Help for restoring a MacGregor 26X, model year 2000
Your ID is too large. Wall thickness is .125", so ID is OD - 2 x ID. That bumps area to .54 in^2, and the moment of inertia to .13 in^4, which results in a Pcr of 2.4 kips with k=1, and compressive stress of .67 ksi. OK, thank you :) You are right. I will be correcting at the original p...

Re: Help for restoring a MacGregor 26X, model year 2000
Blocks and Lines I am really over my head here. Given that everything was taken apart (from the previous owner) and I have just verified that I am short of a few blocks, please post your photos how to do this step by step :?: . I would prefer the original rigging, or if experience says so, an impro...
