This would be the holy grail indeed. Following.

Re: Another aluminum trailer double axle mod

That’s true Tom, but I don’t know if my OCD will allow it.

Another aluminum trailer double axle mod

We do a bit of towing in the Ozarks, and it is always a white knuckle experience for me, between the bow waves of trucks, crosswinds and the worries about a blowout on one of those grades. A couple of years ago I started this mod at right about the same time we were building our house. Big mistake. ...

Re: Experience with soft decks or flexing spots on the deck?

Interesting Jimmy. Can you say exactly where that location is? Is that the right side of the mast step looking forward?

Yes, you wouldn't want to try this over at Sailing Anarchy. :D They're not known for their warm welcomes, especially for Mac owners...

Re: Experience with soft decks or flexing spots on the deck?

Again, think of the deck there as a peanut butter sandwich, the deck is the top slice of bread, the middle, corrugated section is the peanut butter, and the overhead liner is the bottom slice. Anything you inject will have to be viscous enough not to flow away. That's accomplished with glass fiber i...

Re: Experience with soft decks or flexing spots on the deck?

I'm going to disagree with Boat here, at the risk of, well, disagreeing with Boat! :D I have a 2009 with the same spidery cracks portside at the mast. I can feel a tiny bit of flexing there. Boat is correct about the foam, if you watch the production vid closely you can see them laying strips of liq...

Re: Multi-day Sailing on Lake Tahoe

We're planning a week next year in July. We're renting a condo on the north shore near Kings Beach. and if I recall, they come with a mooring. I'll post more details as we firm them up.

Re: Sailing in the SF bay without a motor..

This does not sound advisable based on your level of experience as described. I grew up sailing the north bay and delta and would not try it myself. The currents through the Carquinez Straight right now will be even stronger with the spring runoff. It would be more than a 1 day trip, which would mea...

Re: Adding a second axle

I was looking at the boat last night and the extra layup(s) for the axle extend for about 1-2 feet to either side of where the axle is in relation. Moving the axles forward and back would still fall within the thickened area, so a second crossbar may not be necessary, but I think I'm going to bend a...

Re: Adding a second axle

Another question, I assume I have to fabricate the second bunk support? Can anyone share details on the bunk supports?
Specifically the steel parts.

Thanks guys. Russ, what size tires do you have on there? The trailer is an aluminum 2009.

Adding a second axle

After reading through the mod section carefully I see there are two different measurements used for the distance to move the new axle forward and the old one back. I've seen it written as 15 and 18 inches. I have larger 15 inch tires on my trailer and wondering if anyone knows the measurement. I ass...

Re: Permanent ballast on 26M

BWY website outlines a build they did of a 26m with a weighted daggerboard starting at the factory during the original layup. Thier project should be studied by anyone attempting something similar. The boat was named Perla Negra I think.
