trailer failure

After looking at used trailers for a while and thinking about buying a brand new venture trailer in Tacoma because of rust. I had to bring get my boat out of the water due to the starter quitting on my Suzuki 70. After a long wait for a tow and getting it on the trailer the axle broke going down the...

Re: Buying guide 26x 1996

Hi Ormomddude, I have the same old 1996 Macgregor 26x unique extra large rudders and steering system, large aluminum mounts as shown in picture. (found on google) Never had a problem with the steering system or the large mounts cracking. I was wondering if anyone ever found replacements for the rudd...

2001 DF 70 hose flushing/marina flushing

I previously used a flush bag to flush my df-50 at the marina. However I upgraded to a 2001 DF-70. Ive tried to look online forever to find out where the hose flush port is since my flush bag is to small for the 70. I would appreciate if someone who has this motor know where the hose connection is. ...

Re: Motor change with a lot of options

Just sold my Suzuki df-50 on cl and bought and installed a 2001 df70 on my 26x and love the upgrade the 50 wouldn't get the boat out of the water with ballast full, the 70 will no problem. I if they had a good used Suzuki 90 I would go with that hind sight. Go with the 90 I put a 14x11 prop on mine ...

Sailing with spinnaker

I bought a new doyle spinnaker and chutescoop. Took the boat out yesterday in light winds. Everything was going great till I decided to multitask and hoist the main. I was single handing. I don't have autopilot so the boat turned will I was messing with the ropes causing the spinnaker to tack and th...

Mine did that. Took it to the shop. They changed fuel filter, water separater. Cleaned fuel injectors. Gas tank had water in it. So did the injectors. Ran good ever since.

speaking of beer drinking!

Funny subject! Hey don't let the porta pottie keep you from having your favorite brews, and maybe a few more. If your out in the bay, lift the back seat access open and hold on and go out the back. If your in a place with maybe a few other boats then go in a smaller bucket. My porta is for FEMALES O...

Yes, the main is a 2X2 recommended by Delevi. I really like it. I bought it from http://thesailwarehouse.com/ its the cm.24.75ph 750$. Unfortantely my genoa ripped the same weekend I installed the new main. It was dry rotted also. So I had to replace it also. That little spare factory jib just did n...

Rough start

I had a rough start also last year. You will come up with a routine with your boat though, just like makeing coffee in the morning! Im on my second year and things just keep getting better! I can just about keep up with the best of them now, and there just isn't anything more I like then to take the...

mac in choppy water

Had my mac for over a year now. 96X My first sailboat, had a few power boats before. I don't know what people are talking about when they say the mac doesn't do well in choppy water. Last Sunday Memorial day weekend, I was on the way back from Seattle and hit some heavy white caps. Had people shelte...

spring line

I checked out the video in the link. Looks like something I can try myself on the forward manuver. But... The sailboat in the video was nice and round like a normal sailboat. The MacX is pretty square. Im worried about the rudder, but will give it a try. I was interested in the bow thrusters also un...

Thanks for the animation Duane! Ive always been very hesitant on parallel parking. I parked in front of Anthonys Homeport in Everett. Had one guy behind me already. Then had another park right in front of me. This was my first cruise out... Didn't know about this discussion site. Didn't know to put ...

new main

The new main does tack alot better even in low wind speeds now. Thats the biggest difference I notice now is in the handling while under sail. With the old, I would of had to start the motor to avoid hitting a way bigger nice sailboat. The boat seems to handle way better. I like that.
