Re: Removing Lewmar Winch
Don’t get medieval. You don’t have to remove the base to service the winches. However, if you want to remove the base from the boat, you first have to disassemble the winch. I’m not sure exactly which winch you have but it’s probably something like this. https://youtu.be/APIFjxxPc-8 If you notice, i...

Re: keel cable replace
I would use this table, or similar. As OverEasy indicated, you want it as tight as you can get it, without wringing it off. https://www.fastenal.com/content/feds/pdf/Torque%20of%20Stainless%20Steel,%20Non%20ferrous%20Torque.pdf Not trying to be picky, but you may have installed the clips backwards. ...

Re: Solo Docking
My buddy with the Island Packet 31 uses a cheater line on both sides in his slip. Also, fore and aft spring lines are used to keep his boat positioned in the slip, while allowing for tidal variations.

Excellent! Russ nailed it! That answers where the tack is attached. Looks like you’ve got the mystery solved.
Will the jib clear the mast with the self-tending rig attached. Previous owner photo doesn’t show it rigged that way.

Re: 26M Mast Base Questions
I BTW, from what I can see from your photo, your shroud adjusters look like they are pinned at the same point as shown in the photo in the M26 manual. It will be interesting to see if my pinning points deviate much from this once I get things in place. Duncan, The 2007 and later manuals show them p...

Re: 26M Mast Base Questions
Hello I was in the process of raising the mast on my 2011 26M when I ran into a bit of trouble. As I raised the mast, as it neared vertical, it tipped forward past vertical (or so it seemed from my position at the mast winch) and leaned forward to the port side. I caught the mast and forced it back...

Re: Diesel heater install (26m, ouside installation)
I have heard that heaters generate a significant amount of condensation on the interior surfaces of the hull. Have you considered the need for a de-humidifier? Kurz and I used the same type of heater. The heaters that we used have sealed combustion, isolated from cabin air. Absolutely no moisture i...

Re: New to forum, 1st sailboat MacGregor 22 and have questions
Nice looking rig. Looks like everything is in pretty good shape. It does appear that you may have a windlass on deck, but can’t see it well enough to tell. Is that pole actually connected to the top of the windlass? I thought it might be a gin pole, or a spinnaker pole, but if it’s connected to the ...

Re: Midship docking cleat
BWYachts supports our forum and is an amazing resource for our boats. You can try a marine salvage yard or search 1” track cleat online. The salvage yards here know what things cost new and are pricing pretty aggressively. Sometimes you can get deals if you buy several items at a time and haggle. Sa...

Re: Auxiliary outboard for 26M
Although it’s not in the exact spot for a kicker mount, you can see that the transom on the M is about 3/8” thick; once you’re away from the main outboard mount. https://i.postimg.cc/XGNRqK35/IMG-0521.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/94B3cg3V/IMG-0522.jpg Kicker minimum size depends on what the weather cond...

Stove setup. The whole galley build is in this thread.
You’ll see a lot of different great ideas from other builds thrown into the discussion.
