Re: Honda BF50A Telltale stopped
You are not alone indeed, Tom! I actually swapped the constricted size brass fitting going into the engine block with one slightly larger and I've had zero problems since. Good call on the paperclip. Another thing I used to keep on hand was a one foot long piece of weed whacker string. It's tough en...

Re: Honda BF50A Cylinder Dead
Man, I've taken apart, cleaned, reinstalled, synched and forgotten more about BF40/50 series carbs than I care to admit but the advice you've been given here has been tremendous. These things were so finicky that they have entire manuals on JUST cleaning the carbs. I'm pretty sure I have them in ele...

Re: What will you miss most about your Mac when you size up to another boat?
For me it'll be the steppable mast and low draft. I have to go under a bridge to get out and have to lower it each time. I can't see paying for a slip anytime in the next 15 years when I live on the water so all I can see is getting a different trailer sailer.

Re: Love me my Honda BF50
This is indeed a problem for me as well... even in a marine-rich environment like Tampa. The nearest true Honda Marine dealer is almost an hour away. I know, I know a LOT of people have to drive 3 hours each way, but when there are Yamaha, Suzuki, Evinrude and Mercury dealers within 10 minutes of me...

Re: For those who like music while sailing
Late to the party (damned wife as always heh) but I have two 6.5" speakers in the cabin and two 5.25" in the pedestal in the cockpit. I'd REALLY like to put some in the bench somewhere because they'd sound a lot better but they'd constantly be getting kicked I'm afraid.

Re: Modifying a Bimini for Height and the Backstay.
Or is that not what you were looking for suggestions on? :| Absolutely I was looking for that Tom and it's a great idea! As I stated in another post, I actually have another bimini frame laying around already. I can cut it down to size to mimic the "real" one and know precisely where the ...

Re: Modifying a Bimini for Height and the Backstay.
Thanks for the advice Highlander and the pics Jimmy! As for the inverted Y backstay, I think the only way I'd do that is with the addition of a radar arch to hold solar panels. That's not in the cards anytime soon though, so I think a simple cut in the bimini with some super glue carefully applied t...

Re: Modifying a Bimini for Height and the Backstay.
Ok, thanks for the advice and feedback. I'd rather not change the size of the bimini as I like how much it covers. I'll just deal with the goofiness of it when not in use. As for not using the backstay, I'd never raise a sail without the back stay. It'd put way too much pressure on the side stays to...

Modifying a Bimini for Height and the Backstay.
Howdy folks! I was gifted this big honkin' bimini from a friend who put a tower on his center console and no longer needed it. I chopped about a foot off the C poles and I feel it looks good and performs good but when I fold it up pole A doesn't come close to lining up. I'd like to be able to use th...

Re: 12 gal fuel/gas tank for MAC26X
I have the same set up as tlgibson97 above with a fuel diverter valve and it's worked out great. I have the access ports on the seats and took one of those long funnels and cut the skinny part off so the opening going into the tanks is still 1.25" wide and able to deliver gas without backing up.

Quick Question Regarding Swim Ladder Grab Handle on an X
I plan on putting a grab handle above the ladder where the helm seat is hinged. I see that there's a plug I can remove and get access to for a washer and nut but what about the bottom? Can I get to it from the back? Thanks in advance!
