Re: Genoa vs. Jib
My boat works best when furled to 100-110 to run the sheets to the blocks on top of the cabin usually in the foremost position. That is how my boat points best. The only time I unfurl the jib more than 110% is when I know I'm going to be on a long run.

Re: Learning to sail better
On my 2000 X I used to unfurl my foresail all the way out to 150 when pointing and had to fight it to keep it from rounding up. I was out sailing with an extremely smart experienced sailor friend one day and he started playing my Jib. What we found out was that when pointing, MY boat likes the Jib f...

Re: Multi-day Sailing on Lake Tahoe
I haven't done it but I have friends who rent a buoy at Camp Rich. In the evenings the tie up to the dock and sleep at the dock.
Emerald bay has some boat camping mornings that you can rent thru the park service.
I'm interested as well as I want to spend a few nights out on LT

Download and check the Go Sailing App. People list ads for crew needed. I have never seen any Mac's on there but lots of other great boats for the Bay. Most are free or a small cost share.

Same boat a few more pictures looks like it's in nice shape. If I wasn't on the opposite side of the country I'd go check it out for that price.

Re: Lowering mast with main stowed on boom
On my 26x I leave my boom and main attached when trailering. Good to know. I've never tried it, but it would save a fair bit of time, as I store it below, and that takes time to bring up and reattach. Just one more step that I might be able to eliminate, and every step takes time. :) With luck, I m...

No mention of the NZ and I watched it on the internet and if it's on the internet it must be true.Catigale wrote:Is that when we hired a bunch of people from NZ to drive our boat, added one egomaniacal American, and proclaimed victory for USA?

New X owner Sail Tuning discussion
I've had my :macx: for a year now. I've only been sailing for 2 years and am still very much new to this. I read all the trade offs of having a motor sailor before buying the boat. Mostly of the lack of ability of the X to point to the wind and the excessive heeling of the X. My first 5 trips out I ...
