Port window gasket
I have a 1979 Macgregor Venture 25. It has original tinted glass windows and the gaskets are cracked so bad, when it rains, water leaks in. On the outside, there is an insert that spreads the gasket so it seals. I can not find any thing close to replace the gaskets. Anyone have any ideas short of in...

Re: Head Sail Sizing
Thanks so much for the replies. About 25% of the time the winds were around 3-5 mph. I'm sailing in Long Island Sound. In most cases there is a 1.5 knot tide current. So, my thoughts are more sail surface is better. When the winds are 10 + mph, she moves well. I read the thread "Jib vs Genoa&qu...

Head Sail Sizing
This summer I sailed my Venture 25 using the original working jib. In light winds she barely moved. I'm looking to get a 125 or a 150 furling genoa. The question is, can my venture 25 handle 150 genoa? Someone told me you can make a 125 out of a 150, but you can't make a 150 out of a 125. Which will...

Outboard motor bracket
Good day fellow Sailors, After working on my McGregor 1979 Venture 25 last year, I put it in the water this June. What a great boat. Now that I've sailed her, I find a few more things I need to do. One is to replace, what I think is the original, outboard motor bracket. It stinks. There isn't a real...

Re: 1979 Mac/Venture 25 Restoration Project
Back in May, I purchased a 1979 Macgregor venture 25, just like yours. I have a few questions. On your forward hatch, how's it secured? Do you have any pictures? I'm restoring her and hope to have her in the water before Oct.

Re: Stay tension
Well the mast went up. I made a mast raising system by coping a guy on YouTube. He has a 11 part video which is great. Ukesgp is the youtube name he goes by.
I would love to post a picture but can not figure it out.

Stay tension
Hopefully this weekend I'll be raising the mast for my first time. Is there a certain tension I should have on the stays? If so, what is the rule of thumb? Also, does the rear stay split into two? It appears my rear stay was broken and has only one connection and I think the other unraveled/broke off.

Forward Hatch
Hello, I just purchased a 1979 Macgregor Venture 25 and I'm going through her. My first question is, is there something that holds the forward hatch down? There are two screws that go through and extended about 2 inches. Were there like dogs that latched? Also what is a good size water bags that fit...
