Consider this food-grade silicon grease as a preferred option. Much better for the water! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BN82TPY4 There’s also food grade grease available for your trailer axles! These are also available in Canada on Amazon.ca or your retailer. Can’t wait for the soft water to arrive. O...

Re: 99X forestay loose?
I’ve just removed our mast to do some canal cruising, so it’s here in our yard. Our 99X has furler length of 26’10 1/2”. Our mast hound is 5”. Forestay pin hole is 5” aft of the bow. https://i.postimg.cc/xqfrMs4k/IMG-6343.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/1Vq3pJvY/IMG-6346.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/RNxHgHwn/I...

Re: Length of spreaders
Cut those spreaders to original length. There is a math calculation in place with the spreader/ shroud angles.
Plus the issue of dancing the spreaders under the lifeliness

Re: Please check what these stains mean on 26D?
Stickinthemud is correct. Those are water stains from water sitting there awhile. Not from ballast tank. Note the high water mark 2-3” up! And water sitting awhile gets slimy green ( our 26S had a fooot of water when we acquired her-still scrubbed up ok ( but electrical was fried) ) Lower left quadr...

Re: Anyone want to share their switch and circuit setups?
There’s such a thing as official marine wiring colour-coding. with it you pick a wire and can identify it’s purpose based on colour code. ( very handy) Mac’s - we manage but work at it. Check this : https://www.electricaltechnology.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/ABYC-Cable-Wire-Color-Codes-for-Yacht...

You are correct. The running rigging keeps the mast up and in place on all the 26’s. Happy sailing.

Re: Mast rake, boom position/level/headroom ?
Here’s our boom clearance on ‘99X. Old blown out sails being used. Lots of clearance when seated. Boom clears the dodger frame and passes just in front of our tall Bimini. https://i.postimg.cc/rKxZpPJZ/IMG-5533.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/k2MNd1hb/20230819-161342.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/LJyt4tr0/IMG-4...

Re: Honda BF50A Telltale stopped
When our motor isn’t in use for 2-3 weeks we insert into pee hole a few inches of string trimmer line.
Keeps spider and wee wasps from blocking hole.
If I forget to remove -water flow will blow it out !

Could also sit on the ramp a couple extra minutes and drain. M drains faster than our X (M’s drain hole is larger than X (‘99)) Delighted you are enjoying your boat speed homeward. All boat time is good!! For fun, load a free gps marine app and you’ll prove it sails faster than the outboard pushes. ...

Re: Replacing companionway & hatch slides
What is the issue you are trying to resolve? Our hatch slide was grinding and being difficult. We used one side of self/sticking industrial grade Velcro inserted under the hatch slide. Had great results. Found such info in the mods section!

Hi Mannyc I’m here in Ontario and understand your concern. Our X sorta does something similar. Really the amount of water in there is well spread out and won’t affect anything.(if frozen) But. I like to get it all out. Park on a grade as you suggest , or jack up your trailer high for awhile and you’...

Re: Is A MacGregor the right boat for me?
The S is perfect for your needs. You don’t see many sailboats ‘ cause the keel boats can’t get around in there. The S can pull up boards and go. Even to beach it as you describe. Get the boat. Drop it into the marina and let the word out that you would like some assistance. Take your time and enjoy ...

For 1” you can just go head and install it by springing it into the hinges. It’s not as if it’ll be moving around.

Re: Blue Water Yachts customer Bimini install
How much more width do your arches need to sit properly? Two”, three”. You can stretch your arches that amount without any damage. Here’s how to spring them outwards Lay your arches out on the lawn. Measure the foot ends ‘as they are’. You’re going pull them apart as to permanently spring them. Calc...
