Re: Reading: Sailing optimization for Macs

I’m reading Sailing for Dummies, maybe too basic, but I have already got some good use out of it. What I know is little, but I learned a jib sail will help in pointing up wind a lot. Mainly because it gets pulled in closer to the mast, doesn’t have to go around the outer stay like the Genoa. You wil...

Re: Boat slip woes

We keep the rudders up and the center board down ( to allow bottom cleaner access). In a marina there can be electrolysis from other boats electrical problems (or yours), that will eat away at metals touching the water. The pin on my centerboard had been eaten away from this, looked like tiny metal ...

Re: Speaking of removing engines…..

I have the same engine lift, it works great! Even pulled a 4bd2t Isuzu (cab over truck) with the transmission attached with it. Definitely best way to remove outboards, on the mercury I had to use 3 bolts/washers on the flywheel with 3 short chains connected in the middle with a large threaded link....

Re: Speaking of removing engines…..

Here is a picture of the original Mercury crate that came with my new motor, there was a small metal bracket that holds the motor from turning sideways. Maybe this will help you store or transport the motor? https://i.postimg.cc/DWC2rKgQ/3-DD3-D0-C8-7671-47-FF-98-AD-CD24-F6-C23-BF2.jpg https://i.pos...

Re: Code C roller Tasker sail / Peak sails Generater

Hey PSNA what is the significance of the height of the spinnaker bracket location. Todd @ BWY said 18-24” above jib bracket. Which should I do? Why not higher or all the way up ?

Bilge pumps & pick up points 26x

I’m thinking of getting a set of small bilge pumps for my 26x. What type/ style work best? Where is best place to put them? And is there a way to get the last bit of water out, besides a sponge? I was wondering if a 10’ x 1/2” piece of pvc pipe capped on the end with small holes near bottom (like a ...

Re: Name & Order of Your 3-5 Most Important Mods

(1) put a new 4 stroke motor on, 2 stroke was undependable, noisey, slow, stinky, and inefficient. (2) Composting Toilet, but you must get used to it. It can be a mess if used incorrectly. I am currently working on a liquid overflow tank with a clear tube so you can see it’s full. Over filled way to...

Re: Getting up to the top of my mast

I have worked on my mast a few times in the slip. I turn the boat around, tie it up with bow sticking out about 6’. Lower mast onto the trailer support, then use a ladder on the dock to get to top of the mast. Pretty easy really. I have removed the Nissan 50hp engine while backwards as well, but tha...

Re: Code C roller Tasker sail / Peak sails Generater

Ok I got ahold of Chris Stevens at Peak Sails. He was very informative about answering my questions about the Generator sail. How it can be used furled or socked. He also explained to me how mounting forward on the bow sprit / installing a spinnaker halyard higher changes the sails shape/ size. He l...

Re: Code C roller Tasker sail

They list 2 different sizes for the MacGregor (150-165) I just want to know if they will work for my application. If they got hit by a hurricane then I definitely need a different sail supplier.

Re: Engine Dying After Backing Off WOT

I had the same exact motor. It was extremely finicky to tune. I finally paid a professional to tune it, he checked everything! Took him 2 try’s. I immediately sold it got way more than I ever thought it was worth. Think around $3000 ? Turns out a guy wanted that exact engine for his rib inflatable. ...
