Re: Tips for anchoring a 26X

I made an anchor riding sail for my 26X backstay.it works by using the wind to stopthe boat from swinging by "sailing" the back od the boat to the wind. I raise it with my spare jib halyard. Its relatively small at 3x6ft. The nice thing is that it can be adjusted on the fly if wind directi...

Mac 26x sighting on Mosquito Lake

Not my boat but caught another 26x out for a nice evening sail. https://i.postimg.cc/cttM5yhH/20250703-201316.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/v1SnR2c6/20250703-201006.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/QBM7yZx3/20250703-201226.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/PPm1LMFB/20250703-201227.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/gxsRs2ps/202507...

Re: Defense Department will stop providing crucial satellite weather data

Hi Pitchpolephobie! Thanks for the other links! The recent changes being made were not part of any planned transitional age-out plan. The satellite data that being removed from NOAA and others access are unique in that they are primarily polar orbital satellites. As such they provide a much broader...

Re: Defense Department will stop providing crucial satellite weather data

Ive been following this for at least a year. Seems like media FUD. The NWS and NOAA use layered systems of forecasting and continually upgrading systems and decommissioning legacy systems. Kind of like the USCG re-evaluating its buoy system. Id expect no degredation in weather forecasting but I supp...

Re: 26X fuel tanks = More Fuel?

I have 2 of these. They do fit side by side on the same side. Its a snug fit. You do need to unscrew the cap when u put it into the cubbie then i screw the cap on once its under. You could spill gas that way if the tank is too topped off but it hasnt been an issue for me. The one other issue is the ...

Re: 12 Gallon fuel tanks

I use the 2x6gal tanks and just switch the fuel line as needed to the active tank via a quick connect system. I have them on separate sides to balance weight and have found I prefer that to both on 1 side. To see when I need to switch tanks I use the pick up and jiggle it test. Works fine and less t...

Re: What under the M cabin sole?

Its pretty difficult to find significant ways to optimize the interior space of the 26x and 26m. I think roger and his team had plenty of data from 26s,d and 19 for how they would configure things. Ive never been in an M but sometime Id like to compare it to my X. I could use another inch of headroo...

Re: A New Journey Begins for OverEasy - 2023/2025

Frustrating but it worked out all things considered. My boat is ex-salt water and I had a similar issue with corrosion on my teleflex steering cable requiring 2 hands to turn the wheel over. Reminded me of pre power steering but even worse. Got the cable replaced and amazing difference. Good luck so...

Ive used mine in up to 20-25 gusts and never had an issue. Unsure what theyre truely rated for.. in fact Ive never used my winches for my jib or genoa sheets. If youre a fair weather sailor i bet theyre all youll need. Id make sure your track is ingood shape and secured well. :macx: :macx:

Re: Raising mast on ramp?

Just to pile on… Splash it. Fill the ballast tank. Motor to your slip (works fine - just don’t trip in all of the standing and running rigging). Once you’re secured in the slip, raise the mast. Don’t try to raise the mast when the boat is not close to level, particularly side-to-side. Buy some spar...
