Re: correct length & dia for spinnaker sheets
Thank you all for your information, and I took your advice to contact BWY. Todd pointed me to their web site, as I had missed the 110' spinnaker sheet listed under the "lines and rigging" category. It uses 1/4" dia line. It looks like that size won't bind up in my two cars I am going ...

Re: correct length & dia for spinnaker sheets
Thank you winSome, Wow, are you saying perhaps a total of 110' total, for 55' on each side, and possibly more? I see the windward slack-line would need to go the full width of the sail and then back to the rear track and cars. So I knew it would be a long one. Quarter inch dia...Would that be the sa...

correct length & dia for spinnaker sheets
Hi, I have a 2009 26M that is rigged for an asymmetrical spinnaker and the original asymmetric spinnaker with sock. I need to find correctly sized spinnaker sheets for it. I wondered if anyone has a recommendation for the desired length and diameter for the spinnaker sheet? What online marine suppli...

Re: Harnessing and Jacklines
Thanks Russ, I will try connecting to the grab bar next time I attempt a solo sail. Agree that this is a useful thread for me also. Jeff

Re: Harnessing and Jacklines
Speaking of harnessing points, is the stainless grab bar on top of a 26M helm an acceptable point to attach a harness while in the cockpit?

Re: What does this hex bolt do? Top of 26M mast
Thank you, Russ. That is a relief the mast bolt isn’t essential. I guess there is no harm in removing it, since that is where I was going to mount my 3db VHF antenna. BWY suggested I place my windex on my mast-mounted whip antenna, but the windex they sent to me interferes with the Anchor light they...

What does this hex bolt do? Top of 26M mast
https://i.postimg.cc/8frfvMzM/mast-top-hex-bolt.jpg Thank you to whomever can tell me what this hex head cap screw is for that is inserted in the top bow-facing portion of the top of my mast. The head of the bolt is inside the mast and it has a stop nut on the outside. It doesn't seem to have a pur...

Re: Suzuki DF70 propeller on 26M
I also have the 2009 DF70A on my 26M. With ballast full and 24 gallons of gas I can only hit 20 mph at wot. Are you testing with full ballast and tanks? I also have ablative bottom paint which has some texture to it and is probably an additional drag. I think I have the same solas prop as you. Jeff

Re: Single Line Reefing
I also have a difficult time managing the BWY single line reef from my cockpit. The reefing line always gets caught in the clam cleat at the end of the boom when I try to remove the 1st reef. I saw a video of DogYears 2-line reefing system, and it seemed to work smoothly. He was using it on his 2nd ...

Re: Anchor sail
Wish someone would come up with a way to put one of these on a 26M. Since we have no backstay, I'm not creative enough to come up with a way to rig something that would act as an anchor sail.

Re: luff line on rolly tasker mainsail & mast gate cover
Hmmm, LakeMac26C already provided excellent photos of one of the issues we have discussed in this thread. The replacement sail slugs he received from BWY don't quite match the original slugs in our Rolly Tasker sails. They the eye to slug distance is different, as is the length (shorter) of the slug...

Re: luff line on rolly tasker mainsail & mast gate cover
It turns out that Pacific Nylon Plastics is owned by Rolly Tasker Sails (see the website online). They make all kinds of specialized hardware for sails and sailboats. They have an online catalog, and both the sail slug and snap on shackle styles that are on my RT sail are in their catalog. The sail ...

Re: luff line on rolly tasker mainsail & mast gate cover
Thanks so much for posting this question LakeMac26C. I hope someone can help us with an answer, because I just assumed we could get the correct slugs from BWY too.

Re: luff line on rolly tasker mainsail & mast gate cover
Followup on mast gate cover and sail slugs on 26M, after everyone's helpful information. I installed the BWY mast gate cover, removed the main sail jackline and directly connected my sail slugs to the mast groove. With enough pressure, the plastic grommets were pried open, and I reused them. It is n...

Re: Mac sailors bound for Juneau in 23?
Oh well, Its worth a try to encourage this intrepid group of voyagers to give Southeast Alaska a try. It is an amazing place to wander around in one of our boats. As an extra bit of motivation, we hosted this young lady at our house this summer for a couple of days, who rowed (yes rowed!) her home-b...
