Re: Great names for your boat 2026
There was the cruiser owned by a rabidly Irish Cop whose boat is named ‘Paddy Wagon’. Then there is the motor cruising sailboat owned by a retired couple named ‘End Game’. Came across one named ‘My Other Wife’ that was a beautiful restoration project. The longest boat name that took up the entire st...

Re: Why Sailors Love to Hate the MacGregor 26
Hi 45Plus+! I think you got it! I’d rather have a ‘guarded’ realistic practical review than that form any extremist holier-than-thou sailing/performance purists any day of the week! :D :D It not like every one who (attempts) to own a “performance” sailboat ever actually gets to use it enough to actu...

Re: 26M north of Georgetown Bahamas
Wow! What a trip those guys are on! A nice set up too with the fiberglass motorized dinghy to get to shore and explore with! They have apparently thought about and prepared for this trip. As so many folks have said before, MacGregors are the do-it-all reasonably well boat! It may not be the fastest,...

Re: Trawler / Mactrawler
Hi RSVPASAP! We’ve basically been operating in trawler mode since we got our Mac26X back in the fall of 2020. Our primary objective has been getting out on the ICW and Lake Champlain. Our region of the ICW here in SC has many estuaries and tidal rivers so motor cruising works for us. We have just be...

Hi Ixneigh! Hey! That looks really nice! Great project! Bet you’re gonna enjoy the cushioning. I haven’t personally fussed with that Seafoam decking stuff but it feels good underfoot. Keep us all posted on how it works for you over time. We have a dog and I’m curious as to how it holds up over time ...

Hi All! So here we are at the start of 2026! Whew! We survived the year of 2025, barely it seems…. :D :D Hope you all arrived in 2026 in good shape, healthy and happy! Just a moment of reflections on our Journey through 2025   Lots of challenges on all fronts last year… some within and s...

Re: A New Journey Begins for OverEasy - 2023/2025
Hi All! Well third times a charm! We finally got hauled out on the 8th of January! Hooray! (Kind of a sad hooray though as we have really enjoyed this extended season and the very nice weather we have been having. The dolphins came out again to wave at us on the way from the marina to the ramp. A pe...

Re: Video change trailer bearings
Having recently removed and replaced virtually all the bolts, nuts, washers, & springs on out Sea Lion dual axle trailer I’d highly recommend replacement after all those years of potential neglect. It’s ok to be a pessimist… the adverse consequences of an on the road failure or mishap is much mo...

Re: Investing in paint for my ‘98X
One trick I’ve used:
On braided lines with a core I have slid the braid back off the core an inch or so then cut off the exposed core then slid the braid back.
The melting of the braid end slightly to avoid unraveling.
This reduces the new end diameter so it more readily slips into holes and eyes.

Re: Investing in paint for my ‘98X
Hi Be Free! I heartily agree with you! The wipe down of the interior hard surfaces with a 10-to-20% or so bleach water cleaning solution really helps keep the interior hard surfaces clean longer. It’s something we do as part of our “end of” & “start of” season routines as it pays big dividends i...

Hi All! Here’s a project that can really help with keeping your boat afloat longer as things on board may tend to get older and stiffer over time. Relatively simple to do but with big rewards! (And it’s something experienced boaters tend to already do when afloat!!!  It’s just translati...
