Re: Tips for anchoring a 26X

Hi All! We use a Danforth as our primary mounted on the bow rail with a capture clip arrangement. It works as a decent place to hang the anchor and our chain. Deploying and retrieving is sorta a PITA but there doesn’t seem to be an alternative to ‘standing ‘ in the locker with the lid off to one sid...

Re: Our 26X boat tour on the last day of our Powell trip

Hi Tuxonpup! Nice cooler! Great upgrade! An option to consider is to add a pair of strategically 4x4” or larger through ventilation grill holes through the side walls of the tub and bench seat for air to circulate. One aligned with where the cooler air intake is and one where the exhaust is. If you ...

Re: Shop Vac for down below?

Hi All! While we really the idea of a rechargeable battery operated wet/dry vac but we utilize a 120vac one gallon Craftsman as we have access to shore power in slip, at home or when camping with Over Easy. It’s small but quite powerful! The one gallon volume is useful but doesn’t take up much space...

Re: A New Journey Begins for OverEasy - 2023/2025

Hi All! Well two days on the boat out of four this past weekend wasn’t bad. Not as many days as I’d hoped but given the heat it was enough. On Monday we explored the main course and three branches of Cowen Creek. https://i.postimg.cc/jWfGFfrp/IMG-5016.jpg Just a nice leisurely cruise to enjoy our lo...

Re: A New Journey Begins for OverEasy - 2023/2025

:D Hi Be Free! :D Our trailers must be related :| …. When we first got Over Easy we replaced the tires. Then had both the axles greased which ended up with new bearings and seals. That was followed by new lights. Not long after the short original posts were changed out for taller ones. Not long afte...

Re: A New Journey Begins for OverEasy - 2023/2025

Hi All! Well Friday was sort of a bust as far as getting out in the boat. Saturday was better even with a late start. We got out from Port Royal at nearly 2 pm and managed to get up the Beaufort River and onto the Coosaw River. We traveled as far ar Sam’s Point where we decided to turn back to allow...

Re: Defense Department will stop providing crucial satellite weather data

Hi Pitchpolephobie! Thanks for the other links! The recent changes being made were not part of any planned transitional age-out plan. The satellite data that being removed from NOAA and others access are unique in that they are primarily polar orbital satellites. As such they provide a much broader ...

Hi TrailerTrash! Glad you are feeling better! Even the 24 hour version isn’t fun, never mind the 72 hour or other more longer lasting versions…. There are a variety of solar panels avialable as well as kits. There isn’t an optimal solution except what an individual decides is best for them at the ti...

Defense Department will stop providing crucial satellite weather data

Hi All! Don’t know if anyone else noticed this but a major degradation in weather forecasting has occurred. The Defense department which for decades has provide crucial weather satellite data from a variety of orbital assets has abruptly decided to stop providing that processed data to civilian agen...

Re: Gel coat again…

Hi Herschel! How goes it? The temperatures up here in South Carolina have been tough as of late in the 90s with equal measure of humidity! I can only image what you’re contending with where you are at! I copied your idea of the pop up shade for working on the trailer refurbishment. It makes a differ...

Re: Our 26X boat tour on the last day of our Powell trip

Sailing classes will be good for you. Just remember a J24 is a PURE sailboat and your Mac is a compromise boat that will never sail that well. This time of year seems like the worst time to be boating in Arizona. We are seriously exploring relocating to AZ, but I have no expectations of boating thi...

Hi TrailerTrash!
I managed to get the flu this week, so I'm feeling a bit like expecting the locust plague next week. But I still managed to get another layer of resin on the daggerboard and glassed up the holes I drilled.
Hope you’re feeling better soon! We admire your resilience ...
