Re: Gel coat again…
Hi Herschel! I’ve used polypropylene sheeting, like the mid/heavy drop cloth type. It worked well for fiberglass work area protection too as ‘generally’ the fiberglass doesn’t stick to it …. Has stood up to the heat generally well. I’ve gotten it at Home Depot, Lowe’s and paint stores. Hope this hel...

Re: how bad is this blister
Hi Sailor1! Glad you’re here! Sorry about the blister! :o  From appearances it’s something to fix as it’s a layer or two deep into the fiberglass. Kmclemore is spot on in his recommendations. Be careful with the grinding as you want to leave the good stuff and only take away the material that h...

Hi ARSailor! Now just have to locate owner to see if will sell (It’s amazing that people with these obviously neglected boats refuse to sell them or want some outrageous price!) :D :D :D :D I assume your in the southern Midwest … Arkansas maybe? …. Based on the “AR” in ARSailor 8) 8) 8) 8) When I li...

Re: Batteries
Hi All! Those ‘Start Packs’ are great! I got one for my daughter who has been in Montana the past couple of winters as a ski instructor. (Boy does it get cold in those mountains!) It has come in handy for her and her friends on several occasions in below zero weather (as long as she keeps it charged...

Hi Tuxonpup! Hey! Thank you for that link about the beach bag mooring! That was really interesting! While I sorta kinda understood the lake environment you’re on this really helped clarify things a lot! There’s really no way to get a grip on smooth sandstone with anything short of drilling a hole wh...

Re: Have you ever had the itch to sell your 26M/X and buy a "true" sailboat?
Hi All! Interesting bit about the ‘sails only’ restrictions…. But given some of the attempts locally at sailing I’ve seen locally during the weekends I might understand the Coast Guard perspectives. The process of sailing is an adaptive learned art form that is difficult to truly master … it take ti...

Re: Storage box for left front storage area of 26X?
Hi DiAndersson! We’ve used the plastic ‘ammo boxes’ that are available from Harbor Freight. They come in a variety of sizes. The smaller ones tend to work nicely and are gasket sealed so you don’t have to worry about any potential dampness aspects. A future project we’d like to do is cut the inner f...

Re: A New Journey Begins for OverEasy - 2023/2025
Hi All! Hope all goes well for you! It’s really warmed up down here in SC! Whew! It’s hot! Trying to work on inside projects when I can. How is the weather up by you? My younger daughter came to visit for the past two weeks with her friend. They hit some of the deferred items on my To-Do-List like g...

Hi Tuxonpup! Thank you for sharing your video! It looks stunning! Must be a lot of fun exploring out there! Hi Russ! Liked that self setting shore anchoring thing! Built in impact setting is really cool! No extra sledges to fuss with and it looks pretty well constructed too! Best Regards, Over Easy ...

Re: Crazy idea for backup motor
Hi Russ! A lot of small dingy outboards have an integral fuel tank …. Is this the case for your engine? If so, Here’s an idea I’ve seen done… The idea is to put a “Y-valve” to allow one to selectively choose between the engine tank or to allow for the use of the boat’s main fuel supply tanks. The ma...
