Sail twist at the upper portion of the sail can be caused by:
1. Missing batten
2. Leech line has not been tightened
3. Too much rake in the mast
4. Stays not tensioned properly
The above assumes the boom is level during sailing.
5. The sail needs replacing.

Re: MacGregor Sailing Accident - Safety Reminder
As sailboat owners, we are extra sensitive to this happening; as Mac owners, we need much more information. Ballast full/partial/empty? Powering or sailing? Sail/sails reefed? :tat26: :macx: :macm: :?: Six people on the boat. Where were they? Too much weight? In this well known video there are two ...

Re: Cunningham on an X?
There may be a little confusion here between a downhaul and cunningham.
A cunningham attaches to the sail and changes its actual shape to increase performance. A downhaul attaches to the spar and applies a downward force to the boom. You will also find downhaul's on poled spinnakers and jibs.

Re: SHORT MAST??!!!
When the first 21 came out (Venture) it had a 22' fractionally rigged mast. A taller mast was available later in production which had masthead rigging.
Check where your halyard blocks are located. Sounds like you have the tall mast.

Read up on performing a "roll tack". Especially if racing in San Diego Bay.

Re: DIY Sail kits....
The only company left making a DIY sail kit is actually Sailrite.
If you are handy and good behind a sewing machine, it is a straightforward process.
With that said, their prices are steep. You should be able to find a new loft-built sail for a comparable price.

Re: Thinking out of the box ....
Yup.
Was visiting family and we decided to take his boat out for a sail.
I have been in some nasty conditions in my life, but I wasn't remotely prepared for this hull hole. We bounced around like a rubber duck in a tub. At one point, I thought we would lose the mast.

Re: Upgrading from 26D to 26M - is it worth it? Is it really an upgrade? What to expect?
Personally, paying $13K for something I would use two or three times a year isn't worth it. If you have sailed the X, then you already have a fairly good idea of how the M will perform. The hull shape of the M is a little different and it has a slightly taller mast. The cockpit is smaller and it wil...

Re: Code C roller Tasker sail / Peak sails Generater
Curious. What is the foot length and how wide is the girth? Based on your posts, you seem knowledgeable and not one to push the limit. It seems most folks get in trouble when they are not paying attention to the wind. Puffs or a sudden squall can be seen on a lake from quite a distance. I was racing...
