Re: Water Lilly Archive.

Well she sold. I will get one more chance to sail her when the weather clears a bit the new owner wants me to show him the ropes on sailing her and getting her all set up.

Well guys it’s been fun, but I’m moving on to my new to me Catalina 30.

Re: Water Lilly Revival

Hey everyone… especially those of you nearby me, I’m selling Lilly. She is a great boat and I have really enjoyed sailing her, but I got a new to me Catalina 30 now and I don’t need 2 boats. So, if you want to see what has been done or anything about the boat it’s in this thread. I’m asking $6000 ob...

Where can I find a mast step to fit this 25fter? It has an older wooden top for where the mast step is supposed to go... https://i.postimg.cc/w1PVjffv/Screenshot-20211130-183722.png Are you looking for the factory step, or a setup like mine with the mast raising system? I may be willing to part wit...

Re: Crazy Mac 25 Shoal Keel Idea

Excessive heeling of the boat would be caused my 2 and a half things. First the keel not lowered all the way, which changes the center of gravity and the roll moment, this would be worse with the keel all the way up. Second the sails needed to be reefed a bit due to the strength of the wind. And the...

Re: Water Lilly Revival

Nice! :) :) Our original issue cushions (although is great shape for their age) are paltry in comparison! Very nice! 8) 8) 🐩🐈 My original cushions were actually in pretty good shape. The fabric only had a small hole on one cushion but it was so old and rotten that there was a dust that would get al...

Re: Crazy Mac 25 Shoal Keel Idea

The only problem I see with this idea is water intrusion…. I would just stick with a bit of paint on the cable to let you know when the keel is at the desired depth and leave well enough alone.

Re: Water Lilly Revival

So work on Water Lilly has been snail like slow lately. August has been full of many to do’s that have not involved my little boat. On the good side of news, I got the cushions back from the Upholsery shop! The pics looks good, but in real life they are beautiful! I can’t wait to get them in the boa...

Re: Getting rid of oxidization on my McGregor

I started with some oxidization remover from West Marine with mixed results. It looks like that would be good for new and light oxidization. Water Lilly had heavy, old oxidization. The Meguires Gelcoat polish did the trick with my buffer. I would not attempt this by hand, and you need a true buffer ...

Re: Water Lilly Revival

So we went out again today. It was a great trip except for the cold. Went to bed last night, today was supposed to be partly cloudy and 82, we went early to the marina with the afternoon weather in mind and ended up being cold most of the trip. On the side of good news, it wasn’t me that couldn’t ta...

That is the Lady Washington. If you watched Star Trek Generations, that is the ship that Worf gets his promotion aboard, and in Pirates Of The Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, she is the only real ship in the movie and plays the part of the HMS Interceptor.

Re: Water Lilly Revival

Shhhh. She is a power sailor not a wind sailor. She has never been out under sail, so we will keep the winch wench a secret for now.

Re: Water Lilly Revival

So sailing Water Lilly a couple weeks ago taught me that my starboard winch was not happy. The pawls that prevent it from unwinding were not catching. The pawls for the winch handle we’re working fine. So yesterday I picked her up from the storage lot and decided to investigate the issue. Thankfully...

Re: Water Lilly Revival

So today was the day! The boat got wet, and we got some wind in her sails. Not a lot of wind, but enough. So I found out I can’t read the wind all that well. I don’t have a windex, or tattle tails on my sails so there is that. It could have also been an odd wind area. I was holding course but my sai...

Re: Water Lilly Revival

I used the Blue Seas 150A buss bars. I like having the positive and negative busses in the same unit and that it has a cover to keep stray tools away. My bus panel also has a cover. It has a positive fused bus, and a negative bus as well. I didn’t have the covers on it or any fuses in it when I too...
