Re: 26X Anchor Well Underside Access for Drum Winch
Thanks all! Sea trials have been going great and it has proved worth the effort + cost already. A bonus is that I setup a wireless remote (easy to add to the solenoid) which is great when backing up on to the shore and moving the boat in and out without being in the boat for unloading the family or ...

Re: 26X Anchor Well Underside Access for Drum Winch
Well it's a year later but I finally got around to doing the mod. I opted to cut the well around the vertical walls, extend the walls on the well using G10 + carbon fibre along with general reinforcing around the area and then glue back in. This way the interior remains unmodified as I could attach ...

Re: 26X Anchor Well Underside Access for Drum Winch
good pic. I wonder if all the line of my anchor (30m at least) will stay on that drum... https://www.lonestarmarine.com.au/shop/gx-series-anchor-winches/gx/gx2-electric-anchor-winch/ For winch this size it seems typical in Australia for them to fit around 7m chain + 90m rope. Not sure how that woul...

Re: 26X Anchor Well Underside Access for Drum Winch
Thanks all. Yes understand it is not necessary and just a luxury item that will be overkill for most. I would not have bothered if I didn't think it will make life easier and improve accessibility in my specific circumstances. Found a photo with pretty much the same setup on an M as I may do on our ...

Re: 26X Anchor Well Underside Access for Drum Winch
Thanks for the replies and in particular the picture @leefrankpierce! If I understand correctly, you want to instal the drum winch in the anchor locker, and also cut an area away from the locker so the chain and rode will flow onto the V berth, yes? You didn’t state that last part about the chain an...

26X Anchor Well Underside Access for Drum Winch
I am hoping to install a drum winch on my 26x. I will likely go with a Lone Star GX2. I have seen some other MacGregors that have drum winches so was curious if anyone has any suggestions for access to the underside of the anchor well in order to bolt it in and add any reinforcements. From a quick l...

Re: Modifications for Shallow Launching
Thanks all. Hoping to avoid an extension particularly at busy ramps. I think some lubricant on the carpet and a backup pulley arrangement will be enough for me.

Modifications for Shallow Launching
I have a float on trailer which is a copy of the original 26X trailer in terms of bunk placements. I'm thinking of how I can improve it for shallow ramp launching to avoid having to get the car wheels so close to the water or being as picky with boat ramps. Also on steep ramps I notice the bow falls...

Re: 26X Sports Edition Information
It certainly wasn't anything the factory offered. Perhaps something concocted by one of the dealers but think it would be a "Special Edition"? A lighter mast would have little effect, even if it was carbon. Thanks everyone. I think PSNA is right and it appears there are others labelled as...

Re: 26X Sports Edition Information
Thanks all for the responses. Yes I thought it was quite odd for someone to consider a MacGregor as a sports racing boat. I don't have any pictures and won't likely pursue this boat due to its condition but if the owners posts pictures I will share them here out of interest. It had some obvious modi...

26X Sports Edition Information
Hi all, I recently inspected a 26X which was labelled as Sport Edition (had stickers to this regard). The owner believed it was a special edition and had a lighter mast and some other things setup for racing such as boom traveller (although this had been removed). I haven't been able to find much on...
