Re: Poked a hole in muh boat.

The starboard side has more wear and tear and space between the rub rail and the cap… and some green growth in the space…it seems to have held water. The port chain plate did have some sort of fibrous growth attached to it which made NO SENSE…but I did not get a picture before I ripped it off. Long ...

Poked a hole in muh boat.

Was doing an inspection today since it was nice. Noticed a little flakey thing…poked it. Poked it again. It may be the source of what little water I had get in this winter…

What do yall think?

Re: Oily gas from the exhaust

Thanks guys. Yeah, it’s a two stroke Evinrude60 etec. The gas running downhill is a common sense answer I probably should’ve thought of. I am worried about the amount of oil that came out. It had full two-stroke when I purchased it a few weeks ago. I wouldn’t want to be that guy on the lake who has ...

Oily gas from the exhaust

Hey guys, I got it fired up for the first time on the muffs but the attached picture shows what my grass looked like afterwards, and then it continued dripping overnight and I’m pretty sure was still pulling gas from the tank too…any thoughts? https://i.postimg.cc/ppK4KJ9J/70873469896-74647-C57-C39-...

Re: 2003 26M

Two Mains and a jib. One main did tear just inside the “bolt rope” as I was re-folding…hmph. Oh well. Might as well grip it and rip it before I replace them. Looks like someone lost their balance at some point and punctured the captains chair. I’ll mend that too. Didn’t see a spinnaker pole that I c...

Re: 2003 26M

Yeah that port rudder was a a little loose…I didn’t realize there was a better way than just the safety line… Well, I made it! Got it up the inclined driveway on the second try! At some point possibly prior to this, the mast disobeyed the strap over it and left the strong back. No damage has been no...

Re: 2003 26M

1 hour in. Hub temp is ambient to the outside air. Cat ratchet strap over the boat just forward of the pedestal. No tension on the pedestal. I’m going on faith that the surge brakes are good. The lines and fittings looked good and no problems are heard or felt. Perhaps the initial jolt from take off...

Re: 2003 26M

Thanks again everybody! I’ll unhitch and take a look for this nut! How does on inspect the surge system to see if it’s topped up? And how would one do that?

Re: 2003 26M

Thanks fellas! I called a gearhead buddy of mine, who helped alleviate some of my paranoia. I said if you put new tread on it, and the bearings are packed with grease, and the brakes aren’t dragging, squealing, or making a racket, the likelihood of them seizing and you rolling over 12 times is extre...

Re: 2003 26M

Well ladies and gents, I’m still in Michigan. Taking another night in a hotel. The acquisition went well, I did not care for the possibly original tires, and as I have already invested in new ones, I whipped into a harbor freight 6 miles away and swapped them out for the new ones I brought. They cam...

Re: Macgregor 26X

Thank you for the solid advice! I will be sure to do all of these things… I did buy two new ST 225/75 space D 15 e rated tires, and I’m stopping in Cincinnati to pick up a transom buddy/saver. If I am in anyway uncomfortable with the state of affairs… I will spend Saturday night Sunday into Monday m...

Re: 2003 26M

I’m told extra rudder and daggerboard. The two on it have some painters tape but I think that was for red rags for backing it into the barn where it’s been stored. I’m a little skiddish on the rubber…looks immaculate but MAY be original. Aluminum I-beam style OEM trailer…. I won’t haul if I have dou...
