Re: Macgregor X and M under power
Commenting on the video "These 11 sailboats are worthless in 2026", I as well spendt 3 months in 2024 researching every x that came on the market on several sites and found none less than $10,000 before buying mine. I had no idea they were $15,000 new in 2002, that looks like they hold the...

Re: Upgrades that hurt your boats value
I'm still building my shower in my boat! :D But I wont cut any bulkheads in the process. Come to think of it, i dont think there are any are there? The hull and the strengthening incorporated ballast tank is pretty much it for hull strength right? actually i guess when the top is attached at the rub...

Re: Happy Labor Day from Lake Powell!
Your design is starting to take shape. Good job! I think keeping your outboard connected directly to your lead battery is a very good idea. Some design goals to consider: If you don't have any loads on the start battery other than the starter then you should never wake up to find it dead. You shoul...

Re: MacGregor 26M Blog – A Beginner’s Journey
@Tuxonpup -> I am sending you a picture from now! I raised the mast! Is everything okay? The owner didnt changed something everything is as he had bought in 2008 https://i.postimg.cc/w1cGtw6d/IMG-2013.jpg I'm curious as a 1 year X owner, what was the advantage of the M having the rotating mast? (X ...

Re: New 20 horsepower outboard
There is a another thread on this forum talking about that.I'll see if i can find it and paste it here. I have a 50 HP Suzuki and I think the boat was originally designed to have a 50 a couple considerations and take aways that I've gotten on downsizing are : 1-To empty the ballast on the water you ...

Re: Raise mast on the water?
Raising it on the water is exactly like raising it on land with 2 exceptions, ( note I do have a mast raising winch) #1 To attach the side stays you have to lay on your stomach and maybe have someone holding your feet while you attach them. #2 While doing #1 you have to be careful the little pins an...

Re: How long have you owned a Macgregor?
Bought my 2002 X a year ago, Live in the desert SW of New Mexico , had always been intrigued with sailing so a few years back found an Airbnb in San Diego that was a 45' boat and came with the Captain that introduced us to the boat, took My wife, my 2 teens and myself sailing for an afternoon then a...

Re: A Shower Project in the 26X (Formerly titled “Proper wood to glass in”)
Very cool guys! Thanks for the input! I will definetely look into the Coosa, Ive never heard of it. so a little more detail on my plan: I will be removing all fiberglass from just in front of the toilet where the glass curves downward about an inch or so then aft to the sink and all fiberglass relat...

A Shower Project in the 26X (Formerly titled “Proper wood to glass in”)

Re: Wish I had done this! (ballast blowout)
I am looking at anchoring in a shallow water spot on a nearby lake and see your ability to pressure the water out of ballast intriguing . Question , has anyone ever measured their 26x ‘s depth difference between ballast being full vs empty? When I first got her I did try to compare the difference me...

Re: Wish I had done this! (ballast blowout)
I like that set up. I would maybe want to add an air gauge to the set up (you can get a 0-15 lb gauge at most real plumbing supply houses) just to know what kind of pressure Im sending into the ballast. Could also verify tank isnt leaking when your back on dry land. Hopefully 2 or 3 lbs of pressure ...

Re: Lack of Trust in my Outboard Motor
Thanks for the ideas RSVPASAP and OVEREASY! I really like the electric outboard idea. I actually keep a little Honda 2100 watt generator aboard for my air conditioning and future water heater (Ill eventually send posts of my Mods) , so battery charging for the electric outboard wouldnt be a problem....
