Re: Hope everyone is doing well, Have not been on lately

Going to trailer the boat to NY this May put in on Champlain Canal go to Champlain Lake, then on into Canada to Montreal, Ottawa and down the Rideau Canal. We have a house on the tip of Point Au Fer, near King’s Bay on Lake Champlain. PM me here when your plans and dates start to gel and perhaps we...

Re: What would happen if I fell overboard? (Single handing)

Surely there were many questions. "How did you get here with your clothes dry?" And what happened to the wet skivvies? Surprisingly not! I had also brought a small towel in the bag, but my hair was still pretty wet, so I guess they worked out what happened. And as for the wet skivvies, th...

Re: What would happen if I fell overboard? (Single handing)

Seeing all the comments about trying to swim while fully clothed, I would say the solution to that is obvious. :o Precisely. Skivvies or au natural works just fine. A couple of years ago, in early fall, my wife and I were navigating northwards at dusk on Lake Champlain, headed to our slip. When we ...

Re: What would happen if I fell overboard? (Single handing)

Well, if there's a chance of falling overboard, especially without another person aboard, one should always be tethered to the vessel. Although you could likely swim to the other side of the lake, if you hit your head or injure yourself significantly on the way down, you could possibly drown or be u...

Just to be clear, I used GROK and not ChatGPT, thought your point is taken.

Re: Request tech and electronics

Actually, this post has got me wondering....... Do you not have to HAVE an EPIRB in USA waters? By law in Australia all vessels greater than 7.5 meters MUST carry a registered and in date EPIRB when travelling more than 2nm from land, so everyone here has one. https://www.amsa.gov.au/safety-navigat...

So... I wondered what AI had to say about the MacGregor....

I thought I'd hit up Grok and see what it had to say about the Mac, and found it was actually quite a good summary: My question was: Is the MacGregor 26X a good boat? The answer was: The MacGregor 26X is a unique sailboat that has garnered a mix of opinions among sailors. Here are some key points to...

Re: The trailer suspension pin broke

Macgregor used an off-the-shelf components for their trailers, so parts aren’t usually hard to find. From what I can tell, looking at your pictures, it looks like the trailer axle spindle has failed. That’s the part that holds the bearings for the wheel. If that’s the case, you could Google “trailer...

The “M” is for MacGregor, not for :macm: . After all, we don’t want to be confused as Puffin owners, do we :?:
Ray, did you add the “M” or is this something Russ did?

I now have one of the burgees, and I see Ray (NiceAft) has one as well. They’re great!

Russ, how many have you sold? And are we ready / willing to tell the world to order them?
