I suspect I’m about 10 years behind you in terms of hanging up the sailing gloves! I wish you all the best, and I thank you for all the wonderful contributions you’ve made to the forum over the many years. God bless both you and your family.
Cheers,

Re: Settee cushions for MacGregor 25
I don't know how they are laid out for a 25, as I have a 26X, but I believe all of the boats had a bottom and a back cushion, so the sleeping space arrangement will likely contain a combination of both. My real concern is that you're planning to sleep on vinyl. It's likely to be very hot and sweaty ...

Re: The MacGregor "Road-to-Ownership" Tour
Depending on when you get past upstate NY, you are certainly welcome to stop by and see ours - we are in Rouses Point, near the Canadian border. We will be pulling the Mac out of the barn and popping it into the water in late May/early June.

Re: Mac19 - Drain in Motor Well?
I had thought there was a drain from the factory. Having said that, I did find this photo of the aft cabin showing a drain on a Mac 19. It doesn't look factory, so perhaps it was added by the owner? It's from here: https://mac19p.wordpress.com/macgregor-19-modifications/ https://mac19p.wordpress.com...

Sci-Fi novel "Old Mens War" that postulates that when you hit 70, you're mental processes are transfered into a clone of yourself, age 20. Green tinge to skin. 8) Heck, I *still* think I’m 20, and I turn 70 in three weeks… my body is just trying to keep up! This is me 5 days ago… still cl...

Best of luck, Herschel! after two busted knees in 19 years, I've managed to avoid getting new ones... but I dread the day, and I know it will come. Having said that, the advancements in joint surgery and therapy are amazing, and I hope you're able to get the very best treatment. Cheers, mate!

Re: Solo sailing ban in the US?
I could find absolutely no reference to an "Article 14" or any sailing "physical competency mandate" on a Google search. I suspect this is bogus. That being said, all pilots and captains have always been bound by COLREGs in terms of proper lookouts, navigation, collision avoidanc...

There's only one way to redeem that: a Lake Champlain meetup this summer in full voyage-mode :D :D hopefully with you on your own Mac. Glad you're on this forum, you won't find a more helpful group of Mac Owners, nor a better moderated site. And while you’re on Lake Champlain you can visit our boat...

Yep, never came with one. But if you post a photo of what you’ve got, I’m betting one of us can determine what it is.

Welcome! We have quite a few members out your way, and you are fortunate that the leading parts supplier for Macs is headquartered near Seattle as well ( Blue Water Yachts ). Macs work well for one or two couples, and a great many of us owners take our boats out for a week or more quite happily. I'm...

Re: Crosswinds and docking
The factory documents pretty strongly state not to have the centerboard down while motoring at speed. I would never recommend it, and I think it’s important that we reiterate that here. If the centerboard is extended, in whatever measure, there is a potential, when in a sharp turn - either planned o...

Re: MacGregor 26M mast issue
Yeah, that’s a pretty nasty bend. However, providing there’s no kink in the mast, or any cracks, it’s quite possible to be straightened using gentle pressure. My mast got a little bit of a bend in it, and I straightened it out that way, and it’s been fine ever since. It wasn’t quite as extreme as yo...
