Re: Identify Deck Hardware

Welcome to the Mac. It is the reason they have the reputation that they do. They were made inexpensively to be a recreational boat. The design is both great, and it has plenty of warts too. But any product does. I love the boat, but you have to recognize what it is, and what it isn't. The stock part...

Re: Identify Deck Hardware

And my apologies if my terms are incorrect. I've never used them outsude of reading and YouTube perusing. Please note, this is not my first sailboat. I have several years of experience single handing my little Precision 18. On that I don't have much of this stuff (its not needed) and I cannot find ...

Re: The State of Sailboat Racing

Well.... sailing is an upper-middle-class hobby that appeals to a small, shrinking section of society. If you look at our society in general, we have less time, a smaller middle class, and more options for how we spend our free time. The nature of boating in general is that it is capital-intensive a...

Re: Mast Gate 3d Print

I'd buy one if someone is printing a copy. I don't have a printer, and I'm not going to talk myself into buying one. Well, I don't know which boat you have (X or M), but it appears this 3D printed one one doesn't fit a 26X. Blue water yachts already sells a good mast gate for the 26M (that model ha...

Re: Looking for a new / used mast on a 1991 Mac 26C

Someone correct me if I’m mistaken but I believe that the replacement masts are now available in two sections with a splice joint which actually would make it stronger in some regards as well as reducing shipping charges and reduces the chance of shipping damage. So that said, and not knowing what ...

You can buy them from BWY. They are probably expensive to ship but since you are in the area you could pick it up from Lynnwood.

Tongue Jack

Sometimes it is the simple things. I've been doing a lot of work on the boat, and anytime I was near the bow, the front would jiggle enough to give me unease. Trailers are like RVs, made to a price point, and they just don't inspire confidence. This one is worlds better—a full 8000 lb. capacity with...

Re: Jib Sheets - Swivel Cam Cleats

I'm considering mounting the swivel cleat at deck level since I don't plan on using it at the time I'm using the winch. Todd gave me standoffs for the winch and the stock cleat, so I may put the stock cleat in place and find a spot to mount the swivel cleats for use when I'm single-handing. I won't ...

Re: Removing Lewmar Winch

Don’t get medieval. You don’t have to remove the base to service the winches. However, if you want to remove the base from the boat, you first have to disassemble the winch. I’m not sure exactly which winch you have but it’s probably something like this. https://youtu.be/APIFjxxPc-8 If you notice, ...

Removing Lewmar Winch

I wanted to pull my winches, for both maintenance and the fact that I'm installing a big jib kit. I popped off those little screw hole covers and could barely get my socket on the nuts on the underside. I got one of them off and was struggling to get the socket over the other three. Tired of messing...

I found the first internal modification item for Trailer Trash.

A dedicated urinal to replace that little sink.

Re: Buying a 1989 26D

Hey Trailer Trash, Sorry to hear your under the weather, hope you feel well soon. Where are you located? I'm in Monroe, and we should get together and sail. I should probably follow the doctor's orders and keep my activity moderate for another couple of months, but after that, I'm itching to get ou...

Re: Buying a 1989 26D

Hey Trailer Trash, I enjoyed reading this thread as I purchased a 26D last week which will go through many mods and restorations as well. I will keep following your progress. Hope your recovery is going well. Hey... we are neighbors too. Congrats on the 26D purchase! I managed to get the flu this w...

Shop Vac for down below?

Is anyone keeping a shop vac down below? I'm thinking of buying the Harbor Freight battery-powered guy to keep on the boat permanently. https://www.harborfreight.com/20v-cordless-3-12-gallon-wetdry-vacuum-tool-only-58310.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=21905696053&camp...
