Re: Bahamas 2025 Planning
Currently shopping for a small chartplotter with transducer for depth readings and back-up to the iPad mini currently mounted at the helm. The autopilot, 12V cooler, AIS transponder and EPIRB all look like necessary upgrades we'll be looking at down the road. For now, we picked up an Icom IC-M94D V...

Re: Bahamas 2025 Planning
Nice list, will bookmark for our retirement trip in 2027! Now that we've procured new sails over the winter, we're looking for a window for an "installs" trip up to the boat. Have a 100Ah Lithium and DC-DC converter/MPPT solar controller pending installation as well... https://i.imgur.com/...

Thanks! We've taken her across Kealakekua Bay, the Puget Sound, and along the Cote d-Azur, looking forward to using her as the Mac's tender on our canyon cruises and eventually the Pacific coast. Stopped by a landmark on the the way to Arivaca: https://i.imgur.com/lR27KMq.jpg Put in at the small lak...

Shake down trip with our other powersailor...
We were crossing our fingers the warm front would blow in a week early to coincide with our four day rodeo holiday break here in Tucson, but alas, it's going to arrive a few days too late. It's still freezing at night up at Lake Powell where our 26x is stored so we won't be taking her out to install...

Re: Buying a 1989 26D
The new LiFePO4 battery arrived today. A full 100aH and it is tiny compared to the lead acid monster I pulled out. A full 35lbs less than the lead acid monster and a massive improvement in capacity and cycle life. As with everything in this brave new age, you can see capacity, discharge rates, and ...

Re: Buying a 1989 26D
We bought our 26X in October as well and our outfitting list has followed pretty similar lines to your 26D's. Latest purchase was a HQST 100Ah LiFePoO4 with their 30A DC-DC/solar MPPT controller. I had a small Eco-worthy 30A PWM controller I used when installing their 130W flexible panel, but wante...

Re: Electrical short
My '96 has marine wire running fore and aft and virtually no other upgrades, I'd be surprised if it was the PO who did it. I added a 15A fuse at the battery end of the run to the light panel. With inline fuses, I usually electrical tape a spare to the wire running to the load it's protecting, as my...

Re: advice on selling my Achilles dinghy
Facebook and Craigslist are just private seller postings, so cash, Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, etc. through your own account for payment. I actually wrote a personal check for our boat, which was accommodating of the seller. Best bet is meeting at a neutral, public location near a bank. The FastTrack is a...

Re: advice on selling my Achilles dinghy
I bought our 26X off facebook marketplace in October, which I'm not a member of, but which still comes up in google results. I found lots of boats on craigslist as well, including a full sailboatstogo rig for $100, but I didn't really need an additional one. I would try a craigslist ad. I have the S...

Re: Whitecaps At Midnight, Second Night On Our 26X
The anchor and rode shown in the video around 9:00 will hold a 26X in sand or "thick" mud under any conditions that the boat has any business being out in IF it is set properly with at least a 7:1 scope. Setting a "Danforth" properly requires backing down on the anchor after it ...
