Re: Chesapeake 2009 Labor Day Weekend?
Hey, just saw your e-mail. Unfortunately, I sold my Mac last July. Needed the money for a wedding and law school tuition for the wife and myself. The trip you're planning looks like fun. Remember that large ships take miles to stop and their wake is dangerous. Right of way doesn't really apply. If I...

Re: Rental tow vehicle
Back when I bought my M I looked at several options for a rental vehicle to tow the boat from WI to VA including Hertz, Alamo, Penske, U-haul, etc. None of them would allow a trailer other than their own, in fact IRRC, it was generally expressly prohibited in the rental contracts. Even if the local ...

Re: Suzuki DF50 losing prime
stupid question but it's been overlooked before - did you open the vent on your fuel tank? Also, sputtering and stopping and then restarting after priming the fuel line doesn't mean that the problem is losing prime. Those could be coincidental. Try restarting without priming. Perhaps you have water ...

Re: Winter storage
I'm guessing you get a ton of snow in Montana. If the extra $60/mo won't put you out then I'd definately go for it. Like the others said, it'd be very nice to have a place to work on the boat over the winter!

Re: Docking the 26M
Docking a 26M can be a PITA depending on wind and current given the boat's light weight and generous freeboard of 5'. I generally come in a little quick and at an angle towards the side I want to exit the boat on. Prior to approach, I'd unhook the lifeline I want to exit on. Picture if you will, a r...

Re: Mac on the rocks!!! (Pic works now...sorry!)
Ernesto was just a tropical depression when it hit the bay. Really caught a lot of people off guard. It caused over $20,000 in damage to my dad's retaining wall and stole a huge piece of his front yard at one house. I went to the second to inspect the damages right after the storm and found two yell...

Re: Suzuki DF50 What speed do you get??
It was bottom painted and trailer kept most of the time. Occasionally kept it on a lift or in the water but generally not for more than 5 days to a week at a time.

Re: Suzuki DF50 What speed do you get??
When running my 26m with a df50 WOT I used to run about 18.5mph w/o ballast. Can't remember what size/pitch prop. It was whatever stainless prop Bill at Boats4sail sends you out the door with.

Mac on the rocks!!! (Pic works now...sorry!)
I was reading on up on the Northern Neck Forum on tidalfish.com and stumbed across this picture of what appears to be a 26x destroyed by Ernesto just a couple years back. Thought I'd share. Not sure where the hull went. You can clearly make out a rudder to the top left, fold up captain's seat, and m...

Re: Hunters Version of the Mac26
I wouldn't have owned a boat either if it weren't for the Mac. I love it for that. It did it's job of getting me out on the water. I'm just responding to some very apparent and baseless prejudice against the Hunter.

Re: Hunters Version of the Mac26
Looks like they fixed a lot of the stuff I hated on my Mac M. It was a pain to get into the rear birth having to move the galley or seat back. Theirs is far more open. The V birth was too confined with the head being right next to it and the huge bump out for floatation. Hunter moved the head to all...

sorry for the absence
Hey, sorry about the long absence. My girlfriend and I have been rushing to get our law school applications in. She's also decided to start the job hunt here in DC with the intent to immediately relocate from Newport News - a change from our previous plans for her to wait out the school year. With t...
