Gail @ Blue Water Yachts
Gail, who has been such a big part of Blue Water Yachts for nearly a decade, is leaving next week for a new position. Good luck, Gail! We'll miss you. It was fun seeing you at Daffodil in Tacoma this weekend! -Frank Mighetto

Re: Offshore Mac sailing
Hi Kittiwake, Would you tell us more about your trips to the west side of Vancouver Island? I've been there a number of times in a kayak and once took my West Wight Potter to the Broken Islands, but I haven't taken my 26 X up yet. Thanks, Bill Bill are you at all interested in sellling that Sport P...

Re: Hunters Version of the Mac26
Just saw the edge at the Newport show. Here are some of my observations Not as ugly in person as the photos show. Still not the prettiest boat...but with a little lipstick (LOL) :) ... No doubt it will play nice with the Macs, it is nice that they solidly confirm Macgregor's design model. This sail...

Re: Macgregor 26X Outsailing a Hunter Power Sailer
Well now to see if the 26X Outsails a Hunter 27 Edge. This is the power sailer introduced by Hunter last month. She caries a 75 HP motor, an interior like the regular Hunter 27s, and a mainsail like an Ocean 70. I understand they run about 65,000. I wonder if the Hunter main will fit a 26x - Huzzah,...

I did not know there was a BWY Rendezvous in Seattle at the end of the month, as we exported the boat to Vancouver B.C. Canada. But... we will be at the MYCBC (Macgregor Yacht Club of British Columbia) Rendezvous this weekend (June 20-22) at Snug Cove on Bowen Island in the Howe Sound. Not sure if ...

Hi acdave, We are the 2nd owners of this 2000X that came from Bluewater Yachts in Seattle. As far as we know it was a factory or dealer install. This is an older photo, but shows a closer look at boarding ladder mounitng etc. (click on photo to enlarge) http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll288/Wind...

On the MAC being an off-shore boat (and this is one of the few opinions I'm really serious about) the MAC is not an off-shore boat under any normal circumstances -- end of discussion as far as I'm concerned. However, what it is, is a nice, inexpensive platform for experimenting with various ideas o...

OK Guys, Signing out until I can get to an Internet Cafe in Phnom Penh in a couple of days. MM Hi Mad Mike First, thanks for the Sailing Anarchy Work. You did great and I think I took most of the arrows, though you took a few. That is the way of the pioneers. Second, no wonder I am getting phone ca...

Blue Water Yachts
Duane must have caught them late in the show. The show boats were pre-sold this year, which bothers me somewhat but I don't know if that had been the case the year earlier as well. I tried to get Tod interested in doing the warrantee work on my 2 year old Sisuki four stroke and he referred me to Pug...

Intermediate MacGregor Sailing
BWY is having its intermediate sailing class tonight and I thought I would attend to chat informally at breaks about PHRF-NW race experience. Tod's Double Shot has established a race course tradition. The boat (renamed Nepenthe) plays the hound. Those of us in single hulled Macgregors sail in cruisi...

Re: difference in X and M
I've helmed both boats. My opinion is that if you took a stock X and a stock M, bare to the bones, and put good sailor on one, an average Joe on the other, it wouldn't matter which boat the good sailor was on, he'd win. If they then swapped boats, he'd win again. The performance as far as I can tel...

Notes from San Juan Classic
I think a good example of how close the performance of the X and M are under sail was the recent BlueWater Yachts rendezvous. There were 45 boats present, almost evenly split between X's and M's. Every type of sailor from experienced to newbie. The fleet left Friday Harbor as a ragged group to sail...

Unballasted Operation
If your going to race you do need to learn how to sail unballasted. The first line of the owners manual states "If you have to sail unballasted.... and that if refers to racing. The X is a heavy boat, in comparison to the Mac classics, when fully ballasted. We just finished the San Juan Classic...

The answer to the roller furling/reefing performance benefits can be found with a simple photograph and a ruler. The forestay at its best, a straight line, sailing on the wind. Forestay sag with both wind and weight of the furling/reefing system (assuredly more than a block we Mac owners make use o...
